Starting Ole Miss corner charged with disorderly conduct

For most coaches, the season can’t get here soon enough thanks to off-field “incidents” involving some of their players.

The latest to feel that pinch is Ole Miss, with the Sun-Herald reporting that defensive back Senquez Golson was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct. The incident occurred at 4:50 a.m. local time.

A Gautier Police Department spokesman told the paper today that an “officer was in the midst of a call and he encountered Golson. He attempted to identify him, but he didn’t have any identification on him and he wouldn’t give information.”

It’s unclear what if any punitive measures Golson may be facing from head coach Hugh Freeze.

Golson has started 20 games the past three seasons, including 10 in 2013. His two interceptions last year were second on the Rebels. He will enter his senior season as an overwhelming favorite to start at cornerback.
