After weeks of rumors that the annual Georgia-Georgia Tech game would be moved to the Georgia Dome, UGA’s athletic director has spoken out and put the kibosh on all of the dome talk.
According to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, the Bulldogs considered moving the 2011 game to the Georgia Dome, but ultimately decided they didn’t want to give up a home game so they could start the season against the Yellow Jackets.
“After careful consideration, we did not think in the final analysis it was in the best interest of our football program to play the game as a season opener in 2011,” A.D. Damon Evans said. “I think the most significant factor was that we did not want to give up the home game that year and make a change in the current home game rotation with Georgia Tech.”
