Heisman frontrunner Darian Mensah tried to spark a comeback from No. 1 Miami in South Bend, but an early three-score lead gave No. 11 Notre Dame just enough room to weather the storm and keep their CFP hopes alive.
With just over 30 seconds on the clock before halftime, Notre Dame worked its way down into the redzone and CJ Carr found Micah Gilbert on the in-breaking route to give the Fighting Irish a 17-3 lead over No. 1 Miami.
Notre Dame built a 10-0 lead against the visiting Miami Hurricanes on CJ Carr’s back-shoulder fade to Brandon Faison, who proceeded to do some toe-tap magic in the end zone.
