The Packers have dropped out of the running for free agent DE Dave Tollefson.
It looks like he’s either headed to the Raiders or Titans. Tollefson is a situational rusher with special teams value, but the Packers weren’t going to overpay for a 30-year-old non-starter. He visited Tennessee late this week.

Free agent DE Dave Tollefson will visit the Raiders on Tuesday.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports Tollefson is also set to visit the Titans after spending the weekend in Green Bay. According to the National Football Post, the Packers remain “in the mix” for the former Giant.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the Raiders are interested in free agent DE Dave Tollefson.
The Packers and Seahawks are also pursuing the long-time Giant. Tollefson notched a career-high five sacks in 2011, but is not an every-down player and will turn 30 in July. His price will have to be right to end up with the cap-strapped Raiders.

    Raiders released DE Dave Tollefson.
Tollefson signed a two-year deal with Oakland last offseason as a pass-rush specialist, but he proved to be a bust. He notched just a half-sack. The Raiders save $1.6 million against the cap with the move.

DE Dave Tollefson’s deal with the Raiders is for two years and $2.5 million.
It includes $1.5 million guaranteed. It’s reserve money for a player who will serve as the Raiders’ fifth or sixth defensive lineman. Despite his five-sack 2011, Tollefson won’t be worth monitoring in IDP leagues.

Raiders agreed to terms with DE Dave Tollefson, formerly of the Giants.
Operating as the Giants’ No. 4 end for the majority of last season, Tollefson registered 21 tackles, five sacks, and a forced fumble. He was held off the stat sheet in the playoffs, however, with Osi Umenyiora back healthy. Tollefson joins Desmond Bryant as the key reserves before Raiders D-Line starters Tommy Kelly, Richard Seymour, Matt Shaughnessy, and Lamarr Houston.

CSN Bay Area expects the Raiders to part ways with DE Dave Tollefson.
A pass-rushing specialist, Tollefson was invisible in the first season of a two-year contract in 2012, notching just 0.5 sacks. He’s also on the wrong side of 30. The cap-strapped Raiders will save $1.6 million if they void the final year of Tollefson’s contract.

Packers signed DE Dave Tollefson, S Atari Bigby, TE Zac Alcorn, and WR Calvin Russell to the practice squad.
Tollefson is a seventh-rounder who projects as an Aaron Kampman type down the road. Bigby was hurt in the preseason.

Justin Tuck (neck) called himself “50-50" to play in Monday’s game against the Rams.
Tuck admitted that his neck hadn’t gotten any better as of Monday and said his recovery has become “stagnant.” The pain stems from a stinger he suffered in the preseason game against the Jets. If Tuck is forced to sit again, Dave Tollefson figures to draw another start.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #99
Packers agreed to terms with DL Anthony Hargrove, formerly of the Saints.
Hargrove, 28, has been primarily an interior pass rusher in recent seasons, but the Packers will likely give him a look as a right end in the role once filled by Cullen Jenkins. The Packers can’t count on Mike Neal after a four-game PEDs suspension, and C.J. Wilson and Jarius Wynn are “just guys.” Hargrove can get after the quarterback when his head is on straight. The Packers remain interested in DL Dave Tollefson, who is visiting on Thursday.
