Bills signed WR David Clowney to a reserve/future contract.

Clowney played in the ACC when Bills coach Chan Gailey was the head man at Georgia Tech. The 26-year-old speedster has 22 career catches for 341 yards.

Bills WR David Clowney says he was recently clocked at 4.38 in the 40.

The Bills were looking for speed when they signed Clowney to a reserve/future contract last month, and he apparently still has plenty of it heading into his age-27 season. His problem has always been his hands, however. Clowney is a longshot to crack the Bills’ 53-man roster after going unsigned in 2011.

Bills released or waived WR David Clowney, WR Derek Session, TE Fendi Onobun, OL Jake Vermiglio, DE Sean Ferguson, DT Jay Ross, LB Danny Batten, CB Prince Miller and S Nick Sukay.

Clowney’s 4.3 wheels aren’t enough to keep his NFL career afloat. After spending the entire 2011 season out of the league, he failed to climb the muddled depth chart in Buffalo. The other notable cut here is Batten, a sixth-round pick of the Bills in 2010. He appeared in all 16 games last year, including four starts.

Free agent WR David Clowney reportedly had a “strong” workout for the Titans Tuesday.

According to the Nashville Tennessean’s John Glennon, the Titans have asked Clowney to “stay in town.” Fellow free agent WRs Juaquin Iglesias and Donnie Avery will work out Wednesday. One of the three should take Kenny Britt’s spot on the active roster by tomorrow evening.

Ex-Bills and Jets WR David Clowney is playing in the CFL this season.

Clowney hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game since 2010, and couldn’t make it past final cuts with the 2012 Bills. Clowney recently had a neck scare in a Montreal Alouettes preseason game, but was diagnosed with only a stinger. Clowney’s CFL career is ready to move forward, but his NFL days are over.

Robert Ferguson is listed as the Packers’ fourth-string flanker on their initial depth chart heading to the preseason.

After Donald Driver, James Jones and Shaun Bodiford are before him. At the split end position, Ruvell Martin and David Clowney back up Greg Jennings.

Rookie WR David Clowney has been struggling at Packers camp.

Clowney has been dropping passes and risks being released if he isn’t able to contribute on kick returns. The Pack already has good depth at wideout.

Receivers David Clowney and Shaun Bodiford are likely competing for one roster spot in Green Bay.

They’re battling for primary kick-return duties and the fifth or sixth wide receiver spot. The Packers already have invested a $170,000 signing bonus in Clowney, but Bodiford is more polished as a pass catcher.

    Jets released WR David Clowney.

The quick Virginia Tech product had been signed by the team on October 3rd, but was inactive for three games. His release is a sign that LB Matt Chatham is ready to return from the PUP list.

Packers signed fifth-round WR David Clowney to a four-year contract.

Clowney has great speed and work ethic, but is raw coming from a poor passing attack at Virginia Tech and likely won’t make an impact on offense as a rookie. He does have a chance to be an above-average kick returner.
