Texans signed WR DeAndrew White and TE MyCole Pruitt.
Even with the Texans starved for healthy pass catchers, neither White nor Pruitt will make an impact with Tom Savage at quarterback.
  • FA Wide Receiver
49ers UDFA DeAndrew White had a “standout” offseason.
White was one of the highlights of OTAs/minicamp. The 49ers like the combination of speed and route running he’s shown while working with the second team. White earned sporadic playing time at Alabama after tearing his ACL as a sophomore, but ran 4.44 at the Combine and is a former top high school recruit. White needs to prove his value on special teams to avoid the practice squad.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows said WR Quinton Patton is being given “every opportunity” to win the 49ers’ No. 3 receiver competition.
With Jerome Simpson suspended to start the year, Patton has a leg up on Bruce Ellington, who has missed the last two weeks with a leg strain. UDFA DeAndrew White has played well in camp, but he is a long-shot to pass Patton on the depth chart.
  • FA Wide Receiver
49ers signed Alabama WR DeAndrew White.
White (6'0/193) was a lightly used complementary receiver in the Crimson Tide’s offense, managing 94 career catches, 1,294 yards (13.8 YPR), and 12 TDs in four seasons. He ran 4.44 at the Combine, but struggled in the vertical (34 1/2") and broad (9'10") jumps. Small, often injured, and not proficient at creating separation, White’s ceiling is a pedestrian No. 3 or 4 receiver. White’s lack of special teams experience will hurt his NFL chances.
