The Patriots have expanded the role of Deion Branch throughout training camp.
Branch’s versatility in two- and three-receiver sets make him the most valuable New England receiver. He’s worth a top 100 pick.

Deion Branch’s knee injury is still a question mark in New England.
Coach Bill Belichick says Branch is “getting better”, but it sounds like he’ll be out another week. We’ll get a better read on it tomorrow.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick expects Deion Branch back this year.
We should hope so. Branch has been week to week with a knee injury. But it doesn’t look to be an injury that is getting better soon.
  • FA Wide Receiver #86
Deion Branch (knee) remains doubtful for week seven.
There have been no signs of Branch returning soon. Fantasy owners are probably losing patience, but we’d hold to Branch if at all possible.

For the first time since being helped off the field on Sept. 19 with a right knee injury, Deion Branch donned pads and joined his teammates at practice.
Branch is still listed as questionable; he may not play tomorrow, but his return isn’t far away.

Deion Branch “appears to be moving well” despite not practicing this week.
He’s close. It’s time to pick him up if available in an league format.

Yahoo Sports’ Jason Cole reports Deion Branch has promised to sit out the maximum number of 2006 games (nine) so he can be a free agent in 2007.
Ashley Lelie has made the same threat. Cole also reported that Reggie Bush was contemplating sitting out the 2006 season and re-entering the ’07 draft, so take this with a grain of salt.

Deion Branch’s agent is reportedly seeking a one-year contract stipulating that his client not be New England’s franchise player in 2007.
Such a deal is thought to be the most likely way Branch, who has accumulated $126,000 in fines to this point, could come to terms. The multi-year deal New England has offered Branch would reportedly tie him for 17th among the NFL’s highest-paid receivers.
  • FA Wide Receiver #86
Deion Branch and the Patriots haven’t spoken in a week.
Not a good sign. While the two sides aren’t getting closer, Tom Brady put a little heat on the organization saying Branch was, “The most important player on our offense. When I look at the elite receivers in the game, he is second to nobody.” Branch’s agent has to love that.
  • FA Wide Receiver #86
Deion Branch is said to be looking for a contract extension that includes $12 million guaranteed.
A Patriots source claims the team felt David Givens’ contract with Tennessee “was ridiculous.” Branch’s current deal expires after the upcoming season.
