Texas A&M junior S Demani Richardson announced his plans to return to campus in 2022.
Richardson (6'1/210) has decided to return to campus for one more season instead of going pro. The soon to be senior safety has been a mainstay on Texas A&M’s defense since 2019, having played on 406 or more snaps in each of his three seasons with the team. This season, Richardson played on a career-high 776 snaps while accumulating 67 tackles along with seven quarterback pressures, two sacks and one interception. Richardson was one of the best tackling safeties in the nation according to Pro Football Focus, receiving a tackle grade of 83.6 while posting an overall defensive grade of 70.4. Texas A&M should be bringing back a majority of its talent on both sides of the ball in 2022, and could make a run for an SEC championship next season.

  • Texas A&M sophomore S Demani Richardson has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against Tennessee for COVID-19 related reasons.
Richardson (6'1/215) was held out of Saturday’s win at South Carolina after he contracted COVID-19, and on Monday HC Jimbo Fisher said that he will not meet the 10-day protocol required in order to be available for the matchup with the Volunteers. Since the South Carolina game another player and a staff tested positive for COVID-19, and with there also being contact tracing protocols that have to be met there’s no guarantee that Saturday’s game will be played. Fisher said on Monday that he hopes to be able to play, with Texas A&M needing to meet the SEC’s requirement for available scholarship players (53) in order to do so.

  • Four-star 2019 S Demani Richardson verbally committed to Texas A&M.
Richardson was reportedly down to Texas A&M, Texas, TCU and Alabama, but ultimately has verbally committed to the Aggies. He currently is ranked the sixth best safety in the class by 247 Sports composite rankings, and 140th overall. He also plays running back for Waxahachie high school in Texas, but most analysts believe he profiles best as a safety. It’s just another big get for Jimbo Fisher and company for their already loaded 2019 class.
