    Rams waived C/G Demetrius Rhaney.
A seventh-round pick in 2014, Rhaney saw some spot action two seasons ago, but he was primarily a special teams contributor. Getting cut at this point in the offseason is not a great sign, but perhaps Rhaney latches on with another team before camp.
  • Jaguars claimed OL Demetrius Rhaney off waivers from the Rams.
Rhaney can back up at multiple spots on the offensive line, but was limited to special teams last year. He’ll give Jacksonville some end-of-the roster depth going into training camp.
  • Barrett Jones, Tim Barnes and Demetrius Rhaney are splitting reps at center with the Rams’ first-team offense.
With Scott Wells gone, the Rams are holding a true open competition. “We’re not going to make a decision real early. We’ll let them all play. We’re rotating them,” coach Jeff Fisher said. “We’ll make that decision when somebody shows us he’s earned the job.” A 2013 fourth-round pick, Jones has the draft pedigree to win the job, but injuries have limited him to just 23 career snaps. Barnes has more experience with four career starts, but he has struggled when asked to play significant snaps. A seventh-round pick last year, Rhaney spent his rookie season on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in training camp.
  • Rams signed No. 250 overall pick C Demetrius Rhaney to a four-year contract.
Rhaney can play any position along the interior of the offensive line. He is also athletic, running a 4.9-forty and vertical jumping 29 inches at his Pro Day. Rhaney lacks starting upside, but he could carve out a niche as a reserve interior lineman in the NFL.
  • Rams selected Tennessee State C Demetrius Rhaney with the No. 250 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Rhaney is an averagely-built center (6'2/301) who wins with quickness. He is more of an occupier and speed bumper than drive blocker. The Rams have some depth at center, so Rhaney will be battling for a roster spot.
