Anderson

Anderson has a misdemeanor deadly conduct charge hanging over his head along with a couple other legal issues. He may have to beat out youngsters like John Phillips and Scott Sicko on special teams to stick around.

Anderson flashed solid hands and speed for a big guy, but shouldn’t be on anyone’s fantasy radar.

Anderson has all the tools but has had his commitment questioned after sitting out a year at UConn. He’ll battle Oliver Hoyte to be Dallas’ starter.

Anderson suffered a torn rotator cuff in Week 9 against the Eagles. The sixth-round pick out of UConn showed promise as a versatile threat, catching six passes for Dallas and starting while Oliver Hoyte was injured.

Expect Anderson to get “pushed” but not lose his roster spot or starting job. He’s been a solid blocker in the running game for the Cowboys.

It’s the same knee Anderson had scoped early last season. The one month recovery time will leave Anderson questionable for the season opener. Backup Julius Crosslin was expected to push Anderson and will have a shot to impress the coaching staff.

Purely a lead blocker/special teamer, Anderson finished 2008 with just four touches. He’ll pave the way for Marion Barber and Felix Jones this season.

Dallas will use TEs Tony Curtis and Martellus Bennett more in Anderson’s absence. His loss won’t stop Marion Barber from leveling defenders at will.

Tight end John Phillips would be used as a lead blocker against the Redskins if Anderson can’t go.

Anderson isn’t likely to suit up for Week 5, but he could be ready by the Cowboys’ Week 6 game against the Cardinals. His presence would bolster an already stellar rushing attack.
