The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins reports that Cowboys UDFA TEs Michael Trigg and DJ Rogers made “positive first impressions” at rookie minicamp.

Both players are a long way off from being fantasy-relevant, but this is good news nonetheless. Trigg’s college tape is dotted with explosive plays and surprising drops. Watkins complimented his improving maturity and aptly noted that Trigg has more “potential” than Rogers, who set a goal of leading the team in special teams tackles. For now, Trigg is buried on the Cowboys’ depth chart. He is highly unlikely to be viable in re-draft this season, but remains an interesting dart throw in dynasty formats. He must continue winning over Cowboys coaches this summer and an underwhelming pre-draft showing.

Cowboys signed TCU TE DJ Rogers.

Rogers possesses a burly build, standing 6’4/258. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler deemed him an “interesting Day 3 developmental option” after putting decent tape on film in his final season at TCU. He caught just 34-of-40 targets for 319 yards and two touchdowns last year and shows flashes as a run blocker at times. He will turn 25 in November.

Uncommitted four-star 2020 TE DJ Rogers is taking an official visit to Arizona State this weekend.

Rogers (6'4/230) took an official visit to Cal last weekend and has an OV set up with Oregon for next weekend. In-between those two trips, ASU will have their chance to sway the Sammamish, Washington, native over the next few days. On the 247Sports composite board, Rogers slots in as the No. 312 overall prospect in the 2020 class.

Uncommitted four-star 2020 TE D’Andre Rogers will be taking his official visit to Cal this weekend.

Rogers (6'4/230) revealed his top-10 list of schools in September, and since then he’s been focused on both his high school season and narrowing down that list. The Sammamish, Washington (Eastside Catholic HS) senior is one of the top tight ends in the Class of 2020 and would be a significant commitment for Cal to pick up if HC Justin Wilcox and his staff can land Rogers. He’s been compared to current Giants TE Evan Engram by 247Sports.com recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman in the past.

Uncommitted four-star 2020 TE D’Andre Rogers is looking to set up some unofficial visits for the coming months.

Rogers (6'4/230) is one of the top prospects on the west coast, and he certainly doesn’t lack for suitors in that part of the country. But the four-star tight end from Sammamish, Washington (Eastside Catholic HS) is hoping to set up some trips to schools that aren’t as easy to visit. “I don’t really have a timeframe and I’m still working on narrowing down my schools,” Rogers told Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Gorney. “I want to take some trips down South to Alabama, LSU, get over on the East Coast to Penn State, go down to Miami and then the West Coast schools are pretty easy like UCLA, USC and Washington. “I’m just going to take that time this fall and this summer to take some trips down that are further away from Washington.” Rogers isn’t in a rush to make a decision on where he’ll play his college football.

Rivals analysts Adam Gorney and Mike Farrell compared uncommitted four-star 2020 TE D’andre Rogers to Washington TE Hunter Bryant.

“Neither is tall but both are very athletic and can work from the flex position as a match-up nightmare,” Farrell writes. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Rogers actually attends the same high school Bryant did (Eastside Catholic, in Sammamish, Washington), a nice little touch on this comp. He is considering a number of programs at this juncture, including Oregon, USC, UCLA, LSU, Alabama, Georgia among others. Rivals ranks Rogers as the No. 151 overall prospect in the 2020 class.
