The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins reports that Cowboys UDFA TEs Michael Trigg and DJ Rogers made “positive first impressions” at rookie minicamp.
Both players are a long way off from being fantasy-relevant, but this is good news nonetheless. Trigg’s college tape is dotted with explosive plays and surprising drops. Watkins complimented his improving maturity and aptly noted that Trigg has more “potential” than Rogers, who set a goal of leading the team in special teams tackles. For now, Trigg is buried on the Cowboys’ depth chart. He is highly unlikely to be viable in re-draft this season, but remains an interesting dart throw in dynasty formats. He must continue winning over Cowboys coaches this summer and an underwhelming pre-draft showing.

Cowboys signed Baylor TE Michael Trigg.
After quiet stints at USC and Ole Miss, Trigg (6’4/240) carved out a seem-stretching role at Baylor in his fourth collegiate season. He racked up 395 yards in 2024 and upped that to 694 in 2025. No matter what school he was at, Trigg’s coaches used him much farther downfield than the average tight end. He finished his career with an average target depth of 10.5, one of the highest marks in the class. That’s a valuable role for a tight end, but Trigg will need to polish his game at the catch-point in the pros. He brought down just 45 percent of his career contested targets and dropped an FBS-leading seven passes in 2025. Trigg missed the NFL Combine with a hamstring injury. That issue flared up at Baylor’s Pro Day after he logged a dismal 27.5” vertical jump. Trigg’s tape is full of big plays and equally shocking drops. Without athletic measurables, he will likely be considered a developmental project by his NFL team.
  • BAL Tight End #89
Ravens executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta thinks there is a “strong chance” his team selects two tight ends in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Ravens team reporter Ryan Mink adds that although TE Mark Andrews posted a career-low 422 receiving yards last season, “the Ravens see a rebound in 2026.” DeCosta’s comments could indicate otherwise, though the team lost TEs Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar in free agency. Mink also notes that the Ravens have picked two tight ends in the same draft four times in franchise history: 2022, 2018, 2015 and 2010. DeCosta has been with the Ravens for his whole career, dating back to 1996, and the strategy has worked well for the organization. Mink believes replacing Likely with a receiving tight end could be viewed as a need in the short term. He lists 10 potential draftees, including Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq, Ohio State TE Max Klare, Vanderbilt TE Eli Stowers, Baylor TE Michael Trigg and NC State TE Justin Joly.

Ole Miss sophomore TE Michael Trigg has “unbelievable” potential according to head coach Lane Kiffin.
Trigg (6'4/245) transferred from USC to Ole Miss this offseason, and is already making impressions with the coaching staff. In an article published by Raymond Lucas Jr. on 247Sports.com, Kiffin highlighted Trigg’s ability as both a receiver and tight end and said that he can create mismatch issues for opposing defenses. Last season, Trigg dealt with a leg injury that limited him to just four games. He finished the season with 7-109-1, and will now look to breakout with the Rebels in 2022.

Former USC freshman TE Michael Trigg transferred to Ole Miss.
It was expected that Jaxson Dart and Trigg (6'4"/245) would go to the same school when they entered the transfer portal together on January 10th, and with Dart picking Ole Miss, Trigg was no far behind. Trigg is a bundle of potential and if hadn’t been slowed by injuries this year he really could’ve done some damage. He comes into Ole Miss with a pre-established relationship with the presumed starting QB, and the Rebels’ excellent transfer portal window gets even better.

Former USC freshman TE Michael Trigg is in Oxford visiting Ole Miss
Trigg (6'4/245) entered the transfer portal on the same day as former USC QB Jaxson Dart and he is visiting Ole Miss along with him. The two visiting together adds credence to the theory that the two might be a package deal. Trigg missed some time during the year with a leg injury, but flashed when given an opportunity. He caught seven passes for 109 yards and a score this past season.

USC freshman TE Michael Trigg has entered the transfer portal.
Trigg (6'4"/245) struggled with injuries this year, playing in just four games, but in that time showed the great potential that made him one of the top TE recruits in 2021. He caught seven passes for 109 yards and a score this season. Trigg was a four-star, and the 4th ranked TE in his class, and he received offers from essentially every top program in the nation. There are some signs that Trigg and fellow USC transfer portal jumper Jaxson Dart could be a package, and former USC OC Graham Harrell also just left.

USC freshman TE Michael Trigg (leg) is not available for Saturday’s game against UCLA.
While Trigg (6'4/245) was cleared to take part in individual drills earlier in the week, he isn’t health enough to play. The freshman tight end wasn’t used much when healthy, catching seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

USC freshman TE Michael Trigg (leg) has been cleared for individual drills ahead of Saturday’s game against UCLA.
This is yet another step in the right direction for Trigg (6'4/245) who suffered a leg injury that some thought would end his season back in October. Now, there is talk that Trigg could return to the Trojans this weekend against UCLA. Prior to last Saturday’s game against Cal being canceled due to COVID-19 issues on Cal’s roster, Trigg was thought to have had a chance to play that weekend as well. Given that he has yet to be cleared for team drills, it’s unlikely that Trigg would have suited up against Cal, but if he can get in some team drills before the end of this week, we could see him on the field this Saturday. Prior to going down in Week 6 against Utah, Trigg had hauled in 7-of-13 targets on the season for 109 yards and one touchdown.

USC freshman TE Michael Trigg (leg) could possibly return this week for Saturday’s matchup at California.
Head coach Donte Williams made the announcement that his true freshman tight end could be on the field this Saturday. Trigg (6'4/245) suffered a leg injury in the second half of a 42-26 loss to Utah on October 9th. He was coming off the best performance of his young career with 51 receiving yards in the previous game, most of that came from a 46-yard touchdown. Any help the Trojans can get in the passing game they’ll take, as star wide receiver Drake London suffered a season-ending injury last week.
