Mike Stevens will step down as president of the Champions Tour Jan. 1, the PGA Tour announced on Friday and Greg McLaughlin will assume Stevens’ duties.
Stevens joined the Tour in 1997 and has served as Champions Tour president since June 2008. After 35 years in professional golf, the 56-year-old tendered his resignation to PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem this week.
McLaughlin joined the Tour as senior vice president of championship management in June after 14 years as president and CEO of the Tiger Woods Foundation. In that prior role, he had helped to manage the Quicken Loans National, Deutsche Bank Championship and Hero World Challenge, and now will oversee operations on the over-50 circuit.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone of Greg’s quality to step into that role,” Finchem said in a release. “Greg brings experience, as both a tournament director and administrator. This perspective will ensure future growth and success of the Champions Tour.”
