Bubba Watson has found a caddie for the Par-3 Contest at the Masters and, potentially, a driving instructor.
On Thursday during media day at the Daytona 500, NASCAR driver and Watson friend Denny Hamlin said he would be looping for his fellow lefty for the lap around Augusta National’s short track. Hamlin will be making his first trip to the site of the year’s first major.
Watson likely hopes not to make a victory lap, as well, on that Wednesday. No player who has won the Par-3 Contest has ever gone on to win the Masters that same week.
The racer agreed to don a different kind of jumpsuit than he typically does in exchange for a favor to the new owner of the original General Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Hamlin will provide Watson with a fire suit and helmet to match his new car.
Hamlin will also get an extra benefit.
‘He’s going to let me hit a shot,’ said Hamlin, according to ‘Yahoo! Sports.’ ‘How nervous do you think I’m going to be?’
