Commanders signed WR Ja’Corey Brooks, CB Tre Hawkins, DE D.J. Johnson, WR Jacoby Jones, DE TJ Maguranyanga, S Rob McDaniel, T Tim McKay, CB Darius Rush, CB Car’lin Vigers, G Sala Aumavae-Laulu and DT Ricky Barber to reserve/future contracts.
In case you’re wondering, it’s not former Texans/Ravens wideout Jacoby Jones, but a wholly different Jacoby Jones who came out of UCF as an undrafted free agent in 2025. This Jones ran a 4.68s 40-yard-dash and is more of a special teamer who hangs around the roster. Glad we could clear that up for you. And us. But mainly you.

Alabama freshman WR Ja’Corey Brooks will miss spring practice with a injury.
The nature of the injury was not disclosed by coach Nick Saban. Brooks (6'2"/190) is quite the loss, as he is being tapped to lead the next generation of elite Alabama wide receivers. He came on strong late in the season, scoring in critical games against Auburn and Cincinnati. As a five-star true freshman, to produce like that when the lights were brightest and thrust into a role late with John Metchie’s injury was impressive. Missing spring practice for a young guy like him does hurt, but hopefully it’ll be just the spring.

Alabama freshman WR Jacorey Brooks caught six passes for 47 yards in a 33-18 loss in the National Championship.
We saw Brooks (6'2/190) get an increased role in the CFP semi-finals to help find a replacement for John Metchie and saw even more opportunities in the National Championship. Brooks was involved early along with Cameron Latu, Slade Bolden, and Jameson Williams, but the injury to Williams completely changed up the Tide’s approach. With two 1,000+ receivers out for Alabama, it was an uphill battle, but they were still in this game to the very end thanks to players like Brooks. The freshman didn’t see much action till the last two games, but he proved he could handle the big stage so certainly keep his name in mind going in 2022.

Alabama received a verbal commitment from four-star 2021 WR Jacorey Brooks.
Brooks was believed to be down to Florida and Alabama, but it’s the Crimson Tide who get the verbal pledge. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout is just the fourth commit to Alabama so far in 2021, but you can obviously expect that to change in the coming months. Brooks is considered to be one of the top wideouts in this class, and ranks third at the position in the 247Sports composite rankings. With that frame, Brooks could be a threat when Alabama is inside the 20, and while there’s a long way to go, you’ve seen what the school can do in terms of development at the position.

Uncommitted four-star 2021 WR Jacorey Brooks said that he has “no idea” which school he will pledge to.
Brooks (6'3/168) isn’t letting on much, here, but LSU and Miami are two programs to watch in the early going. The four-star wideout is hoping to garner offers from Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon and Clemson in the weeks and months ahead, as he looks to generally begin to parse the true contenders for his pledge. Hailing from Miami, Brooks comes equipped with nice after-catch chops, dependable hands and sturdy blocking prowess. On the 247Sports composite board, Brooks lands as the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2021 class.

Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy notes that uncommitted 2021 WR Jacorey Brooks could potentially have a star turn during the Rivals 3 Stripe camp in Miami this weekend.
Brooks (6'3/168) is still a long, long ways from hitting the collegiate ranks, but even though he only just recently completed his freshman season at Booker T. Washington High, he’s already developed to the point where he could rock the camp circuit. He’ll begin that quest with Rivals 3 Stripe festivities this weekend. Cassidy goes so far as to write that Brooks is “likely to make a name for himself by outperforming many of [the top 2019 wideouts] on Sunday.” There are no rankings available for the 2021 cycle at this juncture, but assuming he remains healthy and continues to develop as expected, he could have a chance at five-star status in a few years. Miami, Tennessee and Florida have offered to him early on. You can expect that list to take off in due time.

Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy passes along that uncommitted 2021 WR Jacorey Brooks “consistently beat top-flight 2019 prospects” at the Rivals 3 Stripe camp in Miami over the weekend.
Cassidy predicted that this was in the realm of possibility prior to the event. Lo, it came to pass. Brooks (6'3/168) will be in play for five-star rating glory down the road, but for now, he’ll be focusing on a continued honing of craft at Booker T. Washington High (Florida) as he moves into his sophomore year. Miami, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are among those who have offered to him early.
