Chiefs signed CB Jacques Reeves, formerly of the Texans.
Reeves, 29, is trying to make a comeback after spending the last two seasons out of football. One of the NFL’s worst cornerbacks after the Texans signed him to a five-year, $20 million deal in 2008, Reeves drew little to no interest during his time away. He’ll battle for a roster spot with Jalil Brown behind Brandon Flowers, Stanford Routt, and slot cornerback Javier Arenas.

Cowboys CB Jacques Reeves is expected to start after the bye week.
Exploit the Cowboy secondary with your Giants’ receivers in week five.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chiefs placed CB Jacques Reeves (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.
His comeback has ended ignominiously. After two years away from the game, Reeves was exploited as Brandon Flowers’ replacement in the season opener. He hasn’t played a snap since. Turning 30 next month, Reeves may have played his final NFL down.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chiefs released CB Jacques Reeves with an injury settlement.
Reeves was so bad in Week 1 that he lasted just one game in Kansas City before being placed on I.R. with an apparently minor hamstring injury. He’s now an unrestricted free agent free to sign elsewhere. Reeves’ bad tape from the Falcons game certainly won’t help his chances of resurfacing quickly.
  • NYG Defensive Back
Cowboys signed seventh-round CB Courtney Brown to a four-year contract.
Brown, a Cal Poly alum, has terrific size. With fellow late-round CB Alan Ball, Brown will try to push Jacques Reeves and Nathan Jones off the roster.
  • FA Defensive Back
Cowboys defenders Terence Newman (torn plantar fascia) and Kevin Burnett (ankle surgery) will be game-time decisions on Sunday night.
The signs are mostly pointing towards both playing, but neither being at 100 percent. Newman will be replaced by Jacques Reeves if he can’t go.
  • FA Defensive Back
Jacques Reeves will be the Cowboys’ starting left cornerback while Terence Newman recovers from his foot injury.
Reeves, a former seventh-round pick, was on the roster bubble in camp and has started just one game in his four-year career. Dallas’ pass defense will likely struggle if Reeves is forced to see substantial playing time.
  • DET Defensive Back
Cowboys CB Anthony Henry rejoined the starting lineup Sunday.
Jacques Reeves served as Dallas’ third cornerback. Henry’s return to playing full time allowed Terence Newman to go back to his customary left side, and Dallas held Detroit without a passing TD for the first time since Week 8.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Drew Carter caught just one pass for ten yards in Week 16.
Carter was open for a long completion, but was mauled by Dallas CB Jacques Reeves on a pass interference that wasn’t called. He also dropped a late touchdown dry. Carter will finish off another inconsistent season in Tampa next week.

Coach Gary Kubiak acknowledged that LCB Jacques Reeves (fractured fibula) probably won’t be ready for Week 1.
“To say that he’ll be ready for New York would be a pleasant surprise for us,” Kubiak said. “I think the plan all along was hopefully for Week 2.” Fred Bennett and one of rookies Glover Quinn and Brice McCain will likely start against the Jets. That assumes that Dunta Robinson’s holdout continues.
