    Rams released DE James Hall.
Hall is the fifth Rams veteran to be jettisoned ahead of Tuesday’s start of free agency, and the third defensive lineman. Still a productive pass rusher, Hall was due a reasonable $2.75 million, but doesn’t make sense for a rebuilding club at the age of 35. He likely won’t approach the 737 snaps he played in 2011 next season, but should draw interest as a pass-rushing specialist.
  • Rams LT Mark LeVoir (groin), CB Josh Gordy (oblique), S Craig Dahl (ankle), and DE James Hall (pectoral) are all considered “day to day” after suffering injuries in Week 14.
The Rams are already down to third- and fourth-stringers on the offensive line and at cornerback, so it’s just more of the same for LeVoir and Gordy.

James Hall already has a career high in sacks this season with 5.5.
The Lions defensive front four has been dominant at times this season. Shaun Rogers should be headed for the Pro Bowl and Dan Wilkinson is playing well.

DE James Hall (groin) hasn’t practiced for two weeks, but he has been conditioning and preparing mentally.
“He might be a game-time decision,” coach Steve Mariucci said. “But if he’s able to, he’ll suit up.” When healthy, Hall is a solid defensive linemen in IDP leagues -- he had 11.5 sacks last year.

DE James Hall (groin) missed practice yesterday and his status for Sunday’s game is in doubt.
“My concern is that he sucks it up and plays ... then has to come out in the first quarter because it is just not right,” coach Steve Mariucci said. “I want to try to avoid that.”
