Panthers signed WR Ainias Smith, G Ja’Tyre Carter, G Saahdiq Charles, WR Dan Chisena, RB Montrell Johnson, OLB Jamil Muhammad, LB Maz Mwansa, TE Bryce Pierre, WR Ja’seem Reed, S Demani Richardson, RB Anthony Tyus, LB Jacoby Windmon, LB Jared Bartlett, CB Tyrek Funderburk and G Joshua Gray to reserve/futures deals.
The former fifth-round Eagles wideout did not have any NFL playing time in 2024 after a 7/41/1 debut for the Eagles in 2024. He spent the whole year with the Panthers practice squad and could have a chance to battle with lower-rung receivers like Brycen Tremayne for a roster spot in 2026.

    Cornelious Brown
    GAST #4
Jeff Schultz of The Athletic reports that Georgia Southern redshirt freshman QB Cornelious Brown is the favorite to take over at quarterback for the Panthers.
Schultz believes that Brown (6'5/185) holds a slight edge over Jamil Muhammed, who transferred in from Vanderbilt. Brown was a player that once had offers from schools like Alabama, Vanderbilt and Rutgers, so there’s a bit of pedigree for the signal-caller; despite the fact he hasn’t taken a snap in college football. Whomever takes over has big shoes to fill, as Dan Ellington was one of the better Group of 5 quarterbacks and recently was named an offensive assistant for the program. Because of the lack of spring practices, it’s hard to imagine that Brown doesn’t start under center.

  • CAR Outside Linebacker #49
Former Vanderbilt freshman QB Jamil Muhammad transferred to Georgia State.
News broke of Muhammad’s trip into the transfer portal near the end of June. The 6-foot-2, 208-pounder initially signed on with Vanderbilt as a three-star recruit over the winter, but opted to back out of his NLI after just a few months in the program. He will be required to sit out the fall campaign with Georgia State, after which he will look to make some noise in 2020.
  • CAR Outside Linebacker #49
Vanderbilt freshman QB Jamil Muhammad has entered the transfer portal.
Ah, the portal. Muhammad was a three-star signing by the Commodores, and before he even has stepped onto campus, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound quarterback has entered the portal. Important reminder: putting your name in does not always equate to transferring, and a player can always remove themself from the list. If he transfers to an FBS school, Muhammad will have to sit out the 2019 season unless he receives a waiver.
