Falcons signed Vanderbilt TE Jared Pinkney.
Pinkney (6’4/254) was a high-end producer in 2018 (50/770/7), but he regressed in all categories as a senior (20/233/2). His efficiency then dropped across the board (46% catch rate, 5.4 yards per target) as he simply wasn’t a focal point of Vanderbilt’s offense, seeing his targets plummet from 81 to 43 in his final season. On tape, he tracks the ball well, but unimpressively showed 9th-percentile SPARQ athleticism with a 4.96 40 at the Combine. Pinkney needs to make major leaps as a blocker to be an active player on Sundays since he didn’t showcase enough athletic traits to be a pass-catching tight end.
