    Free agent WR Josh Bellamy has been charged with fraud by the federal government for his alleged role in a Paycheck Protection Program scheme.
    Bellamy is accused of mishandling nearly $500,000 in relief funds that were supposedly meant for his business. The 31-year-old was just cut by the Jets on Tuesday. This figures to end his NFL career.

    Bellamy was on the Jets’ PUP list. After spending five seasons with the Bears, Bellamy signed a two-year deal with the Jets prior to last season. He appeared in seven games as a deep reserve and special teams player. Bellamy is now 31 years old.

    Bellamy was a productive receiver for Louisville, but also saw time at cornerback and on returns. How well his versatility plays in the preseason will make or break his chances of cracking Kansas City’s 53 as a special teamer.

    Bellamy worked in as a defensive back in practice this week with Eric Berry, Kendrick Lewis, Brandon Flowers, and Abram Elam battling various nicks and dings. Bellamy was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville. Hicks was just claimed off waivers last week.
