Bellamy

Bellamy is accused of mishandling nearly $500,000 in relief funds that were supposedly meant for his business. The 31-year-old was just cut by the Jets on Tuesday. This figures to end his NFL career.

Bellamy was on the Jets’ PUP list. After spending five seasons with the Bears, Bellamy signed a two-year deal with the Jets prior to last season. He appeared in seven games as a deep reserve and special teams player. Bellamy is now 31 years old.

Bellamy is now slated to miss the entire season, though he could eventually be released with an injury settlement. The ex-Bear made just seven appearances for the 2019 Jets, catching two balls. He turns 31 later this month.

30 in May, Bellamy caught 15 balls for 151 yards and one touchdown last season as the Bears’ No. 4 wideout. He’s not an impact offensive player and should stick mainly to running down punts and kickoffs for the Jets.

The special teams ace played sparingly on offense as the No. 4 receiver throughout the season and caught a total of 15 balls for 151 yards and one score. Turning 30 in May, Bellamy is scheduled to be a free agent in March.

Bellamy was a productive receiver for Louisville, but also saw time at cornerback and on returns. How well his versatility plays in the preseason will make or break his chances of cracking Kansas City’s 53 as a special teamer.

Bellamy worked in as a defensive back in practice this week with Eric Berry, Kendrick Lewis, Brandon Flowers, and Abram Elam battling various nicks and dings. Bellamy was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville. Hicks was just claimed off waivers last week.

CB Jerome Murphy was waived in a corresponding roster move. A second-year undrafted free agent, Bellamy appeared in three games for the Chiefs last season, but made zero catches. He’ll contribute on special teams in Washington.

Bellamy could be starting Sunday’s game against the Lions depending on Marquess Wilson’s (groin) health. Bellamy has eight grabs on 15 targets over the Bears’ past two games. He’s an emergency WR5.

Bellamy got in limited practices all week. He will likely play, and he is not a bad flier in deeper leagues after seeing 15 total targets the last two weeks.
