He’s returning from a torn pectoral muscle and the Dolphins are way over the salary cap. A return to San Diego is possible.

During his acceptance speech for the team leadership award, Seau said: ''This is a great group of guys we have on this team. I would say ‘love’ and everybody would say you’re a faggot, but I’m not. We care in that locker room. My feminine side might come out once in a while, but I’m telling you, there is a lot of love in that locker room.’' Yesterday Seau said his ''words were wrong,’' and he also apologized for drawing the spotlight away from other Dolphins award winners.

He was still limited. A big injury risk at 36, Seau is now only endgame material, even in deep IDP leagues.

He should make his first preseason start this weekend. The future Hall of Fame weak-side linebacker is probably playing his final NFL season.

On Monday, Seau cited his major reason for retiring was because he wasn’t with a contender that wanted him. Well, that all changed rather quickly. He will fly to Massachusetts later tonight and could sign a deal by the end of the week. With Tedy Bruschi sidelined with a wrist injury, Seau is expected to plug a major hole at middle linebacker.

Seau flirted with the Raiders this offseason but will reportedly call it quits after 16 years and nearly 1600 tackles. A first-ballot Hall of Fame candidate in 2011, Seau began his career as a Chargers first-round pick in 1990 and went on to make the Pro Bowl 11 times.

Seau will be used at middle linebacker in the Patriots’ 3-4 defense, and would likely be utilized mostly in early downs as a run-stuffer. He’ll get a chance to re-unite with S Rodney Harrison after the two played together nine seasons in San Diego.

The future Hall of Famer will likely play inside linebacker while Tedy Bruschi is sidelined and be used primarily on rushing downs. Rasby made a preseason start but was expendable when Daniel Graham (shoulder) returned to practice.

We thought the Chargers may look at Seau as a reserve for P.R. reasons, but he hasn’t received much interest after struggling with injuries the last two seasons.

TMZ’s report cites multiple law enforcement sources. Police are currently investigating the 43-year-old’s death, but initial rumors are that it may have been a suicide. In October of 2010, Seau was arrested for felony spousal assault with injury after allegedly driving his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad. Following the incident, Seau denied vehemently that he had attempted suicide.
