Marshawn Lynch injured his lower back while warming up for Sunday’s game against the Browns and will not play.
Lynch was quickly ruled out for the entire day, so it sounds like a somewhat serious ailment. The injury occurred while Lynch was doing his normal warmups just prior to kickoff. Leon Washington and Justin Forsett will share the load today.
  • FA Running Back #20
Justin Forsett rushed four times for 31 yards and a touchdown in Seattle’s Week 11 win over the Rams.
He added a catch for two yards. Forsett had touched the ball just six times in Seattle’s past four games, but was more involved today with the Seahawks going ground-and-pound against the Rams’ 32 ranked run defense. Look for him to again be de-emphasized against Washington’s stouter run defense in Week 12.

The Texans will work out free agent Justin Forsett next Wednesday.
Forsett has drawn surprisingly scant interest since the end of last season, and it’s believed this will be his first trip on the visit/workout circuit. In Houston, Forsett could be the No. 3 running back behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
  • FA Running Back #20
Texans RB Justin Forsett stood out in Monday’s practice.
Forsett was explosive and showed excellent vision as runner, while also impressing as a receiver out of the backfield, according to Texans.com. Coach Gary Kubiak used the word “impressive” three times when summarizing Forsett’s day. The ex-Seahawk is the favorite for No. 3 RB duties behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
  • FA Running Back #20
Justin Forsett has the Texans’ No. 3 running back job virtually locked up.
Forsett has impressed throughout camp, predictably running circles around undrafted rookies Davin Meggett and Jonathan Grimes. He’ll contribute on special teams and caddy for Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
  • FA Running Back #20
Texans coach Gary Kubiak says RB Justin Forsett will compete with undrafted rookies Davin Meggett and Jonathan Grimes for the team’s third-string job.
The coaching staff likes Forsett’s special teams ability. That and his experience edge should give him the upper hand on a roster spot unless Meggett proves to be the Texans’ best option as a return specialist.
  • FA Running Back #20
Texans agreed to terms with RB Justin Forsett, formerly of the Seahawks.
Forsett broke the news on his Twitter account. A seventh-round pick in 2008, Forsett appeared in all 48 games for the Seahawks the past three seasons, carrying the ball 278 times for 1,287 yards. He was more valuable as a pass catcher, notching 97 catches for 730 yards. A much different back than the man he’ll be replacing as Houston’s third-string runner, Derrick Ward, Forsett figures to see the large majority of his snaps on passing downs. Of course, barring injury to Arian Foster or Ben Tate, he’ll see very few snaps in general.
  • FA Running Back #34
Coach Gary Kubiak classified Ben Tate’s hamstring injury as a “slight pull.”
Tate has the bye week to rest up, but Kubiak is still “a little concerned” about his availability for the Bills game in Week 9. Should Tate sit out, Justin Forsett would function as Arian Foster’s backup.
  • FA Running Back #20
Justin Forsett managed just seven yards on six carries in the Texans’ Week 9 win over the Bills.
Forsett was filling in for Ben Tate (hamstring) and couldn’t sustain the high bar set by Arian Foster. We’d stick with Tate as Foster’s handcuff.
  • FA Running Back #34
Coach Gary Kubiak said Ben Tate (hamstring) will probably have to start out on special teams when he returns.
Tate practiced in full on Wednesday, and says he has a “100 percent chance” of playing this week. He has been out since Week 7. During that time, Justin Forsett has rushed 22 times for 180 yards with a touchdown. Of course, 81 of those yards and the touchdown never should have counted. Regardless, it’s not surprising Kubiak wants to ease Tate back in. But by the time Week 14 rolls around, he should be back in place as Arian Foster’s primary backup. There’s a major talent gap between Tate and Forsett.
