Patriots signed sixth-round pick Justin Rogers to a three-year contract.
Rogers, who played defensive end at SMU, will convert to outside linebacker with the Patriots. He may need to prove more effective than Corey Mays and/or Pierre Woods on special teams to secure a spot in the 53-man roster.

Jones, Bam Childress and Kelvin Kight, offensive linemen Clint Oldenburg, Corey Hilliard, Mike Elgin and Gene Mruczkowski, defensive linemen Rashad Moore, Zach West and Santonion Thomas, LB Corey Mays and CB Larry Anam.

Rogers’ year ends on a preseason knee injury. Dallas’ once-impressive depth at outside linebacker has crumbled quickly, with Brandon Williams (torn ACL) also done for 2009. Rogers was mostly a special teamer, though.

Chiefs signed OLB Justin Rogers, formerly of the Cowboys.
The former SMU defensive end has experience at outside linebacker in a 3-4 system. Rogers’ main role, however, will likely end up on special teams.
