Titans waived CB Kalan Reed and WR Ben Roberts.
Reed was the final pick in this year’s draft. He drew praise from coach Mike Mularkey during OTAs but obviously didn’t show enough to win a roster spot. The Southern Miss alum could return to the Titans’ practice squad if he clears waivers.
  • FA Defensive Back
Coach Mike Mularkey mentioned seventh-round CB Kalan Reed as a player who has “stood out” at OTAs.
Mr. Irrelevant in last month’s draft, Reed has early-round athletic traits. He blazed a 4.49 forty with a 41.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-2 broad jump at his Pro Day after being a Combine snub. Mularkey noted that Reed has been around the ball a lot at OTAs. The rookie is fighting to make the Titans’ 53.

Titans selected Southern Miss CB Kalan Reed with the No. 253 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
Reed (5'11/192) started three-plus years at Southern Miss, logging eight career interceptions and breaking a single-season school record for pass breakups (19) as a senior. A surprising Combine sub, Reed blazed 4.49 with a 41 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot-2 broad jump at the Golden Eagles’ Pro Day. Experienced in both zone and man coverage, Reed was slept on during the pre-draft phase but has NFL-starter-level traits. Reed offers more NFL potential than the usual Mr. Irrelevant.
