President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman confirmed that 39th pick Khalifa Diop (who played for Gran Canaria last season) will remain in Spain for the 2022-23 season while working with Cavs ambassador Jose Calderon.
Altman said, “It’s a great league for his development, and if it’s the right team, he’ll also play against other teams from other countries. Hopefully the team he will play for will be EuroLeague level even though it’s in the Spanish League. Jose will make sure he’s well taken care of.” No surprises here, as Diop was fully expected to be a draft-and-stash pick.

At No. 39 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Cavaliers took Senegalese center Khalifa Diop.
The 7'1", 230-pound Diop might be a draft-and-stash for the Cavs, especially since they’re loaded with centers for the foreseeable future. He’s been a pick-and-roll force overseas and could make noise eventually, but fantasy managers can turn their attention elsewhere in 2022-23.
