Small will compete with Derrick Coleman and Spencer Ware for lead-blocking duties. He’ll have to prove himself as a special teamer in camp. “He’s a total thumper, man,” GM John Schneider said after selecting Small in the seventh round. “He’s super tough, plays really low, digs guys out. He’s seriously tough.”

A pure battering ram, Small managed 40 rushes for 151 yards and three touchdowns as a senior. He’ll have to beat out lead blockers Derrick Coleman and Spencer Ware for a spot on the 53-man roster in Seattle.

Small started the last two games and will likely be added to practice squad if he clears waivers. The Browns re-signed FB Ray Agnew in a corresponding move.

Seattle, the team that drafted Small in the seventh round, is in need of a fullback after Derrick Coleman’s pre-game injury Sunday. So the Browns protect themselves by calling Small up and waiving Ray Agnew.
