Undrafted out of Arizona State in 2011, Lewis has spent time with the Titans and Raiders. He was in Jets camp earlier this month, only to be released a few days ago.

Lewis was a healthy scratch Monday night after playing just two defensive snaps versus the Bucs in Week 3.

LeQuan Lewis was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding move. The 27-year-old McDonald had been a major liability in coverage on 216 snaps as the nickel and dime back this season.

Lewis had been the Bucs’ nickel corner and kickoff returner. If the injury persists, Danny Gorrer will likely step in as the third cornerback.

The 2011 undrafted free agent has already had cups of coffee with the Titans, Raiders and Jets. He’ll be a pure special teamer for the Cowboys.

Lewis was waived by the Cowboys at the beginning of the month, and he then latched on with Tampa’s practice squad. Aqib Talib was recently suspended for four games.

Lewis bounced between the Bucs and Cowboys last season, appearing in eight games, before signing with the Bears in February. DeCicco played in 20 games with the Bears over the last two seasons, making 12 tackles.

Lewis split time between the Cowboys and Bucs in 2012, his first official season in the NFL. He recorded four tackles and an interception in five games with Tampa Bay, while also returning kicks. Lewis will look to make the Bears in a special teams role.

It’s perhaps the quietest list of inactive players you will ever see at this stage of the season, though the Bucs have lost a number of notable players to injured reserve. Josh Freeman is just Rotoworld’s No. 19 quarterback for Week 16, but Doug Martin and Vincent Jackson are top eight options at running back and receiver, respectively.

Signed off the practice squad in October, Lewis saw some time at nickel back for the Bucs’ horrific pass defense. He also returned five kicks. Lewis will look to latch on somewhere as a special teamer.
