Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times lists Marques Colston, Roman Harper, and Mario Williams as three players the Raiders could pursue in free agency.
Corkran admits it’s purely “speculation,” presumably based on new coach Dennis Allen’s history with Colston and Harper. Opining that Darrius Heyward-Bey is still ideally a No. 3 receiver despite his furious finish to the 2011 season, Corkran also believes Vincent Jackson is a “very viable option” in free agency. We see the Raiders as having higher priorities than wide receiver.

Saints WR Marques Colston made three grabs for 32 yards and a touchdown during New Orleans’ exhibition loss Saturday night.
The seventh-rounder from Hofstra has quintessential red-zone size and may have sewn up a roster spot with his strong preseason performance.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Marques Colston caught four passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL game.
Unbelievable first-day performance by the seventh-round rookie. He’s the type of player Mike Williams is supposed to be. Drew Brees keyed on Colston in the red zone especially, making him worth a look for your bench in deep fantasy leagues.

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that Marques Colston broke his collarbone in Thursday night’s NFL opener.
Glazer puts Colston’s timetable for return at four weeks, but that’s probably optimistic. Lance Moore’s groin injury has continued to linger, and Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson both stepped up for big nights at Green Bay. Moore would be Colston’s logical replacement outside and in the slot. If Moore doesn’t get back soon, look for Meachem and Henderson to start with Jimmy Graham perhaps seeing a bump in targets. Colston owners should try to hang onto him as an injured WR5, hoping Glazer’s return estimate proves right. It’s tough luck for Colston, who made an impressive return from offseason microfracture surgery with 81 yards in the opener.

Coach Sean Payton says the Saints are targeting just a four-week absence for Marques Colston (collarbone), meaning he would return in Week 6.
Payton also revealed that Colston now has a plate protecting the fracture while it heals. The Saints are optimistic that Colston can beat a normal recovery time from this injury. We’re not so sure, but would advise to hang onto Colston as an injured WR5 in the meantime. He’ll be a fantasy starter upon return.

Marques Colston (collarbone) was limited again in Thursday’s practice.
Coach Sean Payton believes Colston will be activated and “in the plan” for Sunday, but “I wouldn’t anticipate him getting 50 snaps”. Colston credits a hyperbaric chamber for beating his recovery timetable and insists he could play a full game this week. We expect him to be eased in with Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, and Devery Henderson playing at a high level.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The Saints have listed Marques Colston (collarbone) as questionable for Week 4 against the Jaguars after another limited practice Friday.
The Saints apparently believe Colston will be active for the game, but he’s not a fantasy option yet coming off a serious injury, and potentially headed for a limited role. Make Colston prove his health before using him. If Colston does play Sunday, he will have recovered two full weeks ahead of schedule.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Marques Colston (collarbone) is active for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
As expected, Colston gets back on the field a full two weeks ahead of schedule. Still owners with reasonable alternatives should consider taking a “wait and see” approach here. The Saints often ease their players in off injury, as evidenced by Lance Moore’s limited role in his first game back off injury in Week 2. We’re expecting a limited package for Colston today.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Marques Colston caught five passes for 69 yards against the Panthers in Week 5.
Colston missed a few snaps with what appeared to be a mild stinger, but he ended up leading all Saints wideouts in receptions and yards. Once again a fantasy WR3 option, Colston will likely see plenty of Aqib Talib next week in Tampa.

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora predicted on Thursday’s Total Access that the Saints will lose free agent Marques Colston if he makes it to the open market.
“There will likely be more money for him elsewhere,” LaCanfora explained. Colston may be comfortable with coach Sean Payton and QB Drew Brees in New Orleans, but this is his one shot at a mega contract to set himself up for life. The Redskins, Vikings, Bears, and Jaguars could be among Colston’s most fervent suitors.
