A core special teamer, McCoy also held his own as a backup linebacker before landing on injured reserve with a knee injury in October. The signing suggests McCoy’s knee won’t be an issue going forward.

Despite suffering the knee injury last season, McCoy was given a one-year deal, but isn’t ready to go just yet. Like Levingstron, Helfet and Taua could also receive settlements.

The Birds are admitting a mistake with McCoy, a second-rounder two years ago. Jordan nearly made the club out of camp. He’ll play special teams.
