McCaffrey

McCaffrey is a former undrafted free agent NFL wide receiver who spent time with five different NFL teams. He joined the college coaching ranks as a wide receivers coach at Northern Colorado in 2020. He added offensive coordinator to his title in 2021 and held both roles for two seasons. McCaffrey joined the NFL coaching ranks as a member of former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s coaching staff in 2023, serving as an offensive assistant through the 2025 season. McCaffrey’s new role reunites him with McDaniel, who was hired as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator in January. 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey and Commanders WR Luke McCaffrey are Max’s younger brothers.

McCaffrey is the first son of Ed McCaffrey, and the older brother of Christian.

This easily could end the lesser-known McCaffrey’s career in the NFL. He was cut with the 49ers last year with an injury designation.

McCaffrey was cut from the 49ers with an injury designation. The suspension is bad for his chances of signing with another team. McCaffrey could draw practice squad interest when healthy.

It’s a sign the Packers will be without one of their three injured receivers for the NFC Championship. Green Bay placed JC Tretter on IR in a corresponding move.

Christian’s brother, McCaffrey was plucked off the Saints’ practice squad. A 2016 UDFA out of Duke, McCaffrey’s next regular season appearance will be his first. He caught eight passes for 85 yards in the preseason.

The lesser known McCaffrey will revert to IR.

Christian’s brother, Max was plucked off the Packers’ practice squad. McCaffrey appeared in five games for the Jaguars earlier this season, catching his first and only pass. If he lasts through the end of the year in San Francisco, he should get a reserve/future contract in January.

It’s one of the quietest lists of inactives you will ever see at this stage of the season. Christian’s brother, Max was signed five days ago.
