Toudouze

It’s the second time Toudouze has been released by the Colts in three weeks. He’ll be on speed dial if the offensive line injuries continue to pile up.

32-year-old Davis has been out of football since 2009, when he failed to crack the Saints’ roster after training camp. He hasn’t played an actual regular season down since 2009 in Tampa. Both tackles are likely camp bodies.

A six-year veteran, Toudouze has appeared in just nine career games, two of which came in 2011. He’ll struggle for work.

Toudouze has been a developmental prospect with the Colts, bouncing around their organization since 2006. With injuries to Ben Ijalana, Anthony Castonzo, and RT/RG Ryan Diem, Toudouze is needed for depth.

Toudouze was signed for depth last week with multiple injuries up front. Quinn Ojinnaka ended up drawing the start at right tackle, leaving Toudouze as the odd man out.

Toudouze is back for a second trial run after being signed for just one game earlier in the month. He knows the Colts offense and will add depth at tackle.

It’s noteworthy because Toudouze was just signed off the street two days ago. Rookies Anthony Castonzo and Ben Ijalana have joined RG Ryan Diem on the sidelines this week, leaving the Colts razor thin up front. Don’t expect much out of the offense in what is shaping up as a field goal battle against the Chiefs this week.

Toudouze was the Colts’ fifth-round pick back in 2006. He’ll be able to give the starters some rest once the Colts clinch the top seed in the AFC.

They also claimed tight end Tyson DeVree off waivers from Cleveland. Johnson, a 26-year-old rotational reserve, will push for significant snaps this season. Foster is a lightweight former Rutgers Scarlet Knight. Toudouze is a journeyman tackle, and DeVan is the Colts’ probable starting left guard.

He is the first of seven Colts rookies to sign. Indianapolis will be one of the last teams to open camp with a Monday start date.
