Jaguars wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan said undrafted rookie Mike Brown has a lot of the same qualities as Wes Welker.
Brown has come from way off the radar to give himself a shot at a roster or practice squad spot. He played quarterback at tiny Liberty University. Still, he only has a prayer because the Jaguars’ receiving corps is extremely thin behind starters Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said he was impressed with WR Mike Brown this spring.
Caldwell mentioned Brown, along with Mo Massaquoi and Ace Sanders, as part of the “committee” to replace Justin Blackmon during his four-game suspension. Brown spent much of last season on the team’s practice squad, but he drew Wes Welker comparisons from holdover WRs coach Jerry Sullivan. Behind Blackmon and Cecil Shorts, the Jaguars’ receiver depth chart is wide open.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars promoted WR Mike Brown, TE Isaiah Stanback, and LB Brandon Marshall from their practice squad.
Brown drew comparisons to Wes Welker from WRs coach Jerry Sullivan during offseason drills. Stanback is the latest tight-end conversion project after the Jags failed to develop Maurice Stovall and Ernest Wilford in the role. PR Quan Cosby and FB Will Ta’ufo’ou were waived in corresponding moves.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Mike Brown caught one pass for 14 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 1 loss to the Chiefs.
Brown operated as Jacksonville’s No. 3 receiver behind Cecil Shorts and Ace Sanders. The Jaguars talked Brown up this summer, but he didn’t show a whole lot on Sunday. Brown is well off the fantasy radar.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars WR Mike Brown (back) is a game-time decision for Week 2.
Brown hasn’t practiced since Wednesday and is officially listed as questionable. The Jaguars will likely go with Ace Sanders as their No. 3 receiver. Denard Robinson and Stephen Burton could also see an increase in playing time.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars WR Mike Brown (back) is out at least 1-2 more games.
Brown was a training camp star, but suffered a back injury in early September and has been shelved ever since. With Cecil Shorts entrenched as a starter and Justin Blackmon back from suspension, Brown is completely off the radar.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars WR Mike Brown has been sidelined with a back injury this week.
Brown, the Jaguars’ No. 3 receiver with Justin Blackmon suspended, played 33 snaps in the opener, reeling in just one pass for 14 yards and dropping his other target. Coach Gus Bradley said the team may promote Jeremy Ebert from the practice squad. However it shakes out, Brown isn’t sniffing fantasy rosters.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars WR Mike Brown (back) is not expected to play Week 3.
Brown has been sidelined since catching one pass for 14 yards in Week 1. Ace Sanders (ribs) should be fine to serve as the Jags No. 2 receiver against the Seahawks.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Mike Brown (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Brown should return this week after missing last Sunday’s win over the Texans. However, he’s not a recommended fantasy option at less than 100 percent.
  • FA Wide Receiver #12
Jaguars WRs Mike Brown (shoulder) and Cecil Shorts (groin) remained limited in Thursday’s practice.
Brown is tentatively expected to return as Jacksonville’s No. 2 receiver Sunday. His status will be updated on Friday. Shorts rarely gets in full practices, but is ready to go for Week 13.
