    Mariners signed RHP Alejandro Requena to a minor league contract.
    The 24-year-old hurler spent the 2019 season in the Phillies organization where he posted a 4.86 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 106/38 K/BB ratio over 113 innings between High-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading. He’s currently pitching for Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League where he has allowed just one run over his first 6 1/3 innings. He’ll function as additional rotation depth for the Mariners.

    Pitching at Low-A Asheville this season, Requena held a 2.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 97/25 K/BB ratio over the course of 117 innings (19 starts). Just 20 years old, he does not figure to see his major league debut for another season or so.
