Alex De Jesus hit for the cycle and drove in seven runs for high-A Vancouver on Tuesday.
De Jesus, 21, also had a cycle last year, though he was with the Dodgers then. The Blue Jays picked him up along with Mitch White for two prospects last summer. Spending a second straight year in high-A, he got off to a slow start, but he’s hitting .346/.430/.654 with six homers over his last 30 games. A promotion to Double-A would seem to be appropriate.

Blue Jays acquired INF Alex De Jesus and RHP Mitchell White from the Dodgers for RHP Nick Frasso and LHP Moises Brito.
De Jesus has hit .272/.386/.447 with 11 homers and two steals this season between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes. The 20-year-old infielder remains a few years off from making an impact in the majors.

  • Shortstop #69
Dodgers INF prospect Alex De Jesus hit for the cycle for High-A Great Lakes on Thursday.
A cycle is a single, double, triple and homer. It’s entirely possible someone didn’t know that. The homer gives the 20-year-old 10 on the season, and the four hits up his slash to .274/.394/.512 with the Loons. Signed for $500,000 in July of 2018 out of the Dominican Republic, De Jesus is a shortstop with plus-plus power, and his arm is one of the strongest of any player in the system. There are questions about the hit tool and whether he’s athletic enough to stay at shortstop, but even if De Jesus has to move to third base, the power has a chance to play. He has an ETA of 2024, and he could be a regular for the better part of the next decade.
