Mariners selected the contract of RHP Alex Hoppe from Triple-A Tacoma.
Hoppe will get his first taste of the majors after reeling off eight scoreless innings with a 12/3 K/BB ratio over eight appearances for Triple-A Tacoma this season. The 27-year-old came over from the Red Sox in an offseason trade. He’ll operate in middle relief out of Seattle’s bullpen for now.

Mariners optioned RHP Alex Hoppe to Triple-A Tacoma.
The 27-year-old Hoppe, who was picked up from the Red Sox and added to the 40-man roster in November, gave up 10 earned runs with a 9/6 K/BB in 6 2/3 innings this spring. It’s going to take improved command to make him a major league reliever, but he definitely has the arm.

Mariners acquired RHP Alex Hoppe from the Red Sox for C Luke Heyman.
Hoppe provides Seattle with some additional relief depth entering next season after posting a respectable 4.55 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 73/34 K/BB ratio across 61 1/3 innings over 44 appearances between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. The 26-year-old righty was a sixth-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
