White Sox returned Rule 5 pick RHP Alexander Alberto to the Rays.
Alberto had a 10.80 ERA and 2.40 WHIP in 6.2 innings during Spring Training. He’ll likely return to either Single-A Bowling Green or Double-A Montgomery to open the 2025 season with the Rays. Alberto has not pitched above High-A to this point in his minor league career.

White Sox designated RHP Alexander Alberto for assignment.
Alberto will be returned to the Rays, if he clears waivers. The 24-year-old righty was the 13th pick in the Rule 5 Draft last December and unsurprisingly failed to make Chicago’s season-opening roster.

White Sox selected RHP Alexander Alberto from the Rays with the 13th selection of the Rule 5 draft.
Alberto was the final pick of the Rule 5 draft, and the White Sox were the only team who picked twice. A 6-foot-8 right-hander, Alberto was able to strike out 64 batters in 48 2/3 innings, but it’s worth noting he didn’t pitch above High-A. He’ll have a chance to show if that stuff can play at the highest level this spring.
