Cardinals placed RHP Andre Pallante on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 18, with right elbow inflammation.

The 27-year-old righty came out of Monday’s start against the Reds feeling a bit of extra soreness in his elbow and further examinations revealed the inflammation. The Cardinals are hopeful that he’ll able to return after missing just a couple of weeks, but with the season winding down he may be a tough hold in redraft leagues.

Andre Pallante threw six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Phillies on Tuesday.

Pallante and Cristopher Sánchez went zero-for-zero over six innings, so although both starters pitched well enough for a win, but go wanting. The 27-year-old scattered four hits and three walks, and he whiffed two before leaving after 97 pitches. Pallante is never dominant, but more often than not he limits the damage. He’ll take a 3.46 ERA into a scheduled showdown in Cincinnati versus the Reds.
