  • TEX Starting Pitcher #44
Andrew Heaney yielded four runs — three earned — in six innings and struck out eight Sunday in a win over the Angels.
It’s Heaney’s first win since July 21. He allowed one run over 15 innings in his previous three starts, all of which turned into Rangers victories. Still, he just hasn’t had any luck in that department this year, leaving him 5-13 in spite of a 3.84 ERA. He’s a fine play with his next start due to come in Seattle.

Andrew Heaney didn’t give up a run and struck out eight over five scoreless innings, but still came away with a no-decision against the Yankees on Tuesday.
Heaney and Carlos Rodón were both outstanding Tuesday, but neither ends up getting a decision. Heaney gave up three hits with one walk, and was rarely in trouble while throwing 54-of-86 pitches for strikes. The 33-year-old has now allowed just one run over his last 10 innings, and his ERA has improved to a respectable 3.86 in the process.

Andrew Heaney allowed one run over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the White Sox.
Fantasy managers were likely expecting a significantly higher strikeout total against Chicago’s rebuilding lineup, especially since Heaney piled up eight strikeouts in each of his previous two outings, but the veteran southpaw managed just two punchouts over five frames. A run-scoring single by lefty-masher Corey Julks in the third inning represented the lone tally against him. The strikeout totals have been all over the map in recent outings, but he’s still missing bats at a high enough rate to offer some streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues when he faces the Yankees on Monday in a home outing.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
Tuesday’s game between the Rangers and White Sox was suspended in the first inning due to inclement weather.
We knew the White Sox wanted to limit Crochet’s workload, but this is extreme. The 25-year-old southpaw threw just four pitches before the contest went into an unexpected rain delay as storm fired up in the Chicago area and stuck around long enough that the two sides got tired of sitting around. It’ll be resumed on Wednesday afternoon as a doubleheader. Crochet won’t factor into the pitching plans for Wednesday’s twin bill, but Andrew Heaney will take the ball for the Rangers in the front end followed by rookie Jack Leiter in the nightcap.

Andrew Heaney recorded eight strikeouts over five shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.
Heaney was magnificent on Wednesday afternoon, limiting Pittsburgh’s offense to just five hits and one walk over five frames, while also piling up an eye-popping 22 swinging strikes and finishing with a near-elite 37 percent CSW. Unfortunately, neither team was able to get anything going offensively until rookie Wyatt Langford smacked a walk-off single with two outs in the ninth inning. The 33-year-old southpaw has been hit or miss from a strikeout standpoint over the last few weeks and has worked beyond the fifth inning just twice in nine starts since July 6. He’ll bring a respectable 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 131/36 K/BB ratio a cross 129 1/3 innings (26 appearances, 25 starts) into an extremely favorable road tilt on Tuesday against the free-falling White Sox.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #44
Despite striking out eight, Andrew Heaney yielded four runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Twins.
Ryan Jeffers and Carlos Santana homered to account for the runs. This was in many ways the classic Heaney start. He had a really nice run from the beginning of May through late July, posting a 2.81 ERA in 77 innings, but he’s now given up 18 earned runs in 24 1/3 innings over his last five starts. He might lose his spot in the Texas rotation if everyone gets healthy.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #44
Andrew Heaney allowed five hits, three earned runs, and two walks across 4 2/3 innings in a loss on Sunday.
This was a quintessential Heaney start: he struggled to command all three of his pitches and wound up behind in the count far too often forcing himself into long, difficult at-bats. He only went up 0-1 on three batters and had to work hard for the outs he recorded. Also, his slider command was especially poor and he wound up throwing his changeup more often than that slider for just the third time this season.

Andrew Heaney allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Rangers’ 4-3 victory over the Astros on Monday.
Heaney gave up one hit, walked one and struck out four. The lone hit he allowed was a solo home run to Alex Bregman in the third inning. Heaney has won only four of his 23 starts this season. He has a 3.98 ERA on the year. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road this weekend.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #44
Andrew Heaney surrendered six runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first inning, Heaney gave up three runs to St. Louis in the second on three hits, a sacrifice bunt, and a walk. Two singles and a double brought two more runs in to score in the fifth before Heaney was replaced on the mound with one out and a runner on. The inherited runner would eventually come in to score. The 33-year-old left-hander ends his day with a 4.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 107/31 K/BB ratio across 109 1/3 innings. He currently lines up for a home start against the Astros on Tuesday.

Andrew Heaney allowed seven hits and four runs in five innings of work on Friday against the Blue Jays. He struck out four and walked one in a no-decision.
Heaney struggled to put right-handed batters away in this one with a good feel for his changeup. Toronto put at least one runner on base in four of Heaney’s five innings and nothing felt easy for him. This broke a streak of five straight starts in which he allowed two or fewer runs.
