Wednesday’s game between the Pirates and Tigers has been postponed due to inclement weather.
There was almost zero path to get this contest in based on the forecast around Detroit, which called for some heavy rain later this evening. It’ll be made up as a doubleheader on Thursday instead with Tigers ace Tarik Skubal facing Andrew Heaney in the front-end of the twin bill. It’ll be Paul Skenes taking the ball during the nightcap affair.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that Andrew Heaney is a likely trade target this season.
Heaney has posted a 3.33 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 14 starts for Pittsburgh this season. He’s signed to just a one-year contract, so it seems like a given that he will be shipped off at the deadline. Perhaps to clear a rotation spot for Bubba Chandler, who remains in the minors. Feinsand lists the Astros, Dodgers and Cubs as potential destinations.

Andrew Heaney logged a quality start in Thursday night’s loss to the Cubs, surrendering three runs on four hits over his six frames.
The 34-year-old southpaw racked up seven strikeouts on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He showed no ill effects of the calf cramping that forced him to make an early exit his last time out. Unfortunately, two of the four hits that he allowed left the yard — a two-run blast by Pete Crow-Armstrong in the fourth inning and solo shot by Seiya Suzuki in the sixth. Heaney generated 12 whiffs on 76 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he totes a 3.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 59/24 K/BB ratio (78 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Tigers in Detroit.

Andrew Heaney left Saturday’s start against the Phillies with left camp cramping.
Heaney went six innings and allowed one run before exiting with a trainer. Assuming no setbacks, there’s a good chance he’ll be able to make his next start against the Cubs next week; scheduled for Thursday.

Andrew Heaney left Saturday’s start against the Phillies with an apparent injury.
Heaney threw a wild pitch, and then exited the start with a trainer. He threw six innings of one-run baseball before leaving the start. There should be an update on why Heaney left before the end of Saturday’s contest.

Andrew Heaney pitched well in a no-decision against the Padres on Sunday afternoon, allowing just two runs on five hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Heaney struck out three batters on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. He served up a solo homer to Manny Machado in the opening inning and then kept the Padres off the board until the sixth where Jackson Merrill chased him with a run-scoring double. Heaney generated four swings and misses on 87 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll carry an impressive 3.39 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 47/24 K/BB ratio (66 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Phillies.

Andrew Heaney worked five innings while allowing five runs in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Heaney allowed two homers, but he was consistently in trouble while giving up eight hits and three walks against just two strikeouts. The 33-year-old southpaw had allowed four total runs in his previous three starts, and it was a rare off night for Heaney in 2025. He’ll still take a 3.41 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Padres, which is scheduled for Sunday.

Andrew Heaney allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Reds on Wednesday.
The veteran struck out four and walked two while registering a 19 percent whiff rate and 25 percent CSW. He took advantage of a poor Reds offense playing on the road, and the average exit velocity on balls in play against Heaney on the day with just 86.8 mph. The left-hander has a rock-solid 2.91 ERA on the season, but he is not a recommended play next time out against Arizona.

Andrew Heaney pitched five innings of one-run ball Friday against the Phillies.
Heaney was in line for the win after the Pirates took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth, but that didn’t last. Even though his velocity and strikeout rate are down, Heaney has excelled from day one this season, amassing a 3.02 ERA in nine starts. We still don’t have much faith that he’ll keep it up. He’s due to face the Reds next time out.

Andrew Heaney allowed two runs with two strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Saturday.
Back-to-back doubles put the Braves on the board with a run in the second inning. Matt Olson then took Heaney deep for a solo homer in the third. Heaney kept Atlanta off the board for three more innings, ending his day with a quality start. He’s struggled to miss bats of late, collecting just five strikeouts over his last three starts. The 33-year-old southpaw with take a 3.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 36/16 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings into a road start against the Phillies on Friday.
