Diamondbacks recalled RHP Andrew Hoffmann from Triple-A Reno.
Hoffmann rejoined the Diamondbacks’ bullpen prior to Friday’s series opener against the Padres. The 25-year-old hurler has been knocked around in 10 appearances this season, registering a 6.55 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 12/9 K/BB ratio 11 innings between the Royals and Diamondbacks.

Diamondbacks opitoned RHP Andrew Hoffmann to Triple-A Reno.
Hoffmann has scuffled in his last few outings, so the Diamondbacks will send him to Triple-A to get right with Bryce Jarvis recalled in a corresponding transaction.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Andrew Hoffmann from Triple-A Reno.
Hoffmann joins Arizona’s relief mix for Monday’s game against the Padres with veteran Kevin Ginkel hitting the injured list with a shoulder strain. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander came over from the Royals last week in the Randal Grichuk trade.

Diamondbacks acquired RHP Andrew Hoffmann from the Royals in exchange for OF Randal Grichuk.
Hoffmann is one of the better relief pitching prospects in baseball, and while he is limited to relief, it’s a nice piece of business for an expiring contract in Grichuk. He’ll likely get a chance to pitch for the Diamondbacks before the end of 2025, and could be a future high-leverage reliever.
  • ARI Center Fielder #15
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Royals have acquired Randal Grichuk in a trade with the Diamondbacks.
In return for Grichuk, the Royals are sending the Diamondbacks right-handed reliever Andrew Hoffmann. The 33-year-Grichuk has homered seven times while hitting .243 with a .742 OPS. He’ll be in the lineup against left-handers for sure, but the Royals’ struggling offense could make Grichuk an everyday player for the final two months.

Royals optioned RHP Andrew Hoffmann to Triple-A Omaha.
Hoffman returns to the minors to make room for veteran lefty Rich Hill on Kansas City’s active roster. The 25-year-old righty has made three relief appearances this season in the big leagues.

Royals recalled RHP Andrew Hoffmann from Triple-A Omaha.
It’ll be the second big-league stint for Hoffman, who allowed two runs in two innings of relief work the first time around. He’s taking the place of Michael Lorenzen, who went on the IL before the break, but possibly only until the team needs a fifth starter next week.

Royals optioned RHP Andrew Hoffmann to Triple-A Omaha.
Hoffmann made his major league debut by giving up two runs in two innings against the Tigers last week. He was sent down Wednesday, recalled as the 27th man in the doubleheader Thursday and now he’s back down again.
  • KC Starting Pitcher
Royals selected the contract of RHP Andrew Hoffmann from Triple-A Omaha.
Hoffmann, 25, will get a chance to make his MLB debut. The right-hander has pitched well in Omaha with a 2.84 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 19 appearances, and likely will work in the middle innings while he’s with Kansas City.
  • KC Outfield
Royals outfield prospect Gavin Cross was one of 23 players to receive invitations to MLB spring training on Friday.
While Jac Caglianone is the biggets name on the list of non-roster invitees, Cross is intriguing in his own right. The 23-year-old outfielder — and ninth overall pick from the 2022 draft class — slashed .261/.342/.428 with 15 homers, 59 RBI and 30 stolen bases (32 attempts) in 101 games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas in 2024. There’s a good chance that we see him in Kansas City at some point during the 2025 season and his speed would give him some appeal from a fantasy perspective.
