Austin Martin is out of the Twins lineup Friday for the second time in three games.
This is kind of odd with Martin hitting .295/.382/.372 with five steals this month, but the Twins know he’s sticking around for 2026 and still have decisions to make on other outfielders like Trevor Larnach and James Outman, both of whom are playing tonight.

Austin Martin scalded a three-run double and tallied four RBI on Monday, leading the Twins to a 7-0 victory over the Yankees.
Martin kicked off the scoring with a run-scoring groundout in the third inning before blowing the contest wide open with a bases-clearing double against Yankees reliever Luke Weaver in the seventh inning.

Austin Martin is in left field and batting second on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Martin has batted near the top of Minnesota’s lineup for seven consecutive games since last weekend as his late-season surge continues. The 26-year-old former top-five pick from the 2020 MLB Draft is batting .351 (13-for-37) with nine walks in 12 games since the start of September, raising his full-season batting line to a robust .299/.405/.402 with one homer and six steals across 38 games. He’s a sneaky late-season pickup in deeper mixed leagues for fantasy managers seeking a boost in the runs scored department.

Luke Keaschall is on the bench for Tuesday’s showdown against the White Sox.
Keaschall heads to the bench with Austin Martin taking over at second base following six straight starts at the keystone for the Twins. The 23-year-old rookie sensation is slashing a robust .310/.405/.496 with four home runs, 19 RBI and eight steals across 131 plate appearances in 31 games. He looks like a future fantasy force at a relatively weak second base position group heading into next season and beyond.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Twins activated OF Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list.
Buxton missed 15 days with rib-cage inflammation. It’s best to activate him immediately in fantasy leagues, but he probably will get more off days than usual down the stretch, what with the Twins simply playing out the string. Carson McCusker was demoted, and Austin Martin and Alan Roden could see less playing time with Buxton back. It’s also possible one of those two could head back to Triple-A once Matt Wallner returns from the paternity list.

Austin Martin went 2-for-5 in a loss to the Royals on Saturday.
Martin is now 7-for-25 with one home run, one RBI, one steal, and a 3/2 K/BB ratio in seven games since being recalled from the minors after the trade deadline. The former top prospect has been starting regularly and leading off with Byron Buxton (ribs) on the IL. There’s not a ton of fantasy upside here, but he was hitting for a good average in the minors and could score some runs as a leadoff man, so that makes him viable in deeper formats in the short-term.

Austin Martin hit a pinch-hit homer in a win for the Twins over the Tigers on Wednesday.
Martin came off the bench and clobbered a solo homer off Tyler Holton in the sixth. The former top prospect also drew a walk, and he’s slashed .263/.300/.421 since rejoining Minnesota at the start of August. At the age of 26, it’s not crazy to think Martin could carve out a career, but fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before adding him to a roster.

Austin Martin went 3-for-5 against the Guardians on Friday.
Martin appeared in 93 games for the 2024 Twins, but spent the first four months of this season injured and in the minor leagues. After the Twins’ avalanche of trades at the deadline, the 26-year-old outfielder has a clear path to regular playing time and therefore could be an option in AL-Only leagues.

Twins recalled INF/OF Austin Martin from Triple-A St. paul.
Martin should get a chance to play, even as one of eight players who was recalled from Triple-A after Minnesota dumped a third of its roster before the deadline. The 26-year-old is the most relevant of the players in terms of potential for 2025, but he’s far from a must-add at this stage of his career.

Austin Martin went 2-for-3 with a homer in his return to Triple-A St. Paul’s lineup Thursday.
Martin had been out since early May after aggravating a hamstring strain that had already kept him out for much of April. It certainly cost him some time on the major league roster, as he would have been promoted at some point with Royce Lewis and others down.
