Braves signed RHP Austin Pope to a minor league contract.
Six years after the team made him a 15th-round pick, Pope, 27, made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks last season, pitching two scoreless innings in September. Alas, it wasn’t enough to prevent him from getting outrighted after the season. Pope also ended up with a 4.60 ERA and a 34/10 K/BB in 29 1/3 innings for Triple-A Reno. He’ll be a long shot to win a spot in the Braves bullpen next spring.

Diamondbacks sent RHP Austin Pope outright to Triple-A Reno.
Pope went unclaimed on waivers and will remain with Arizona as organizational relief depth. The 27-year-old is off the club’s 40-man roster heading into the offseason.

The 26-year-old right-hander was swapped out for a fresh arm prior to Friday evening’s battle against the Padres. Pope fired a pair of scoreless innings with a 1.50 WHIP and a 1/1 K/BB ratio in his lone appearance out of the Diamondbacks’ bullpen.

Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Austin Pope from Triple-A Reno.
Pope receives his first call up to the majors after compiling a pedestrian 4.60 ERA across 29 1/3 innings over 25 appearances this season at the Triple-A level. The 26-year-old will operate in low-leverage spots for the final week of the season.
