Flores Jr. has made three relief appearances in the majors since 2020. The 27-year-old lefty has been cut loose after allowing four runs on four hits with a 4/7 K/BB ratio across 4 2/3 innings (three appearances, one start) for Triple-A Round Rock.

The 27-year-old southpaw spent the first half of the 2022 season in the Reds’ organization where he posted an uninspiring 7.13 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and a 13/12 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville. He then latched on with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican League where he registered a 4.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 27/18 K/BB ratio in 26 additional innings. He’ll add bullpen depth in the upper minors for the Rangers.

Flores Jr. was released by the Rockies last week and didn’t waste too much time finding a new opportunity. The 26-year-old lefty has made three major-league appearances over the last two seasons with the Cardinals and White Sox.

Flores cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization.

Flores has been removed from the Rockies’ 40-man roster and will likely pass through waivers unclaimed. He was claimed off waivers from the Cardinals back in June, but hasn’t made an appearance in the majors in Colorado.

Flores was designated for assignment by St. Louis on Tuesday after making just one appearance in which he allowed a run on two walks and a hit while failing to record an out. He’ll head to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The move makes room for the newly-added Lars Nootbaar on the 40-man roster. Flores has made one appearance with the Cardinals this season, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while failing to retire a batter.

Flores served as the Cardinals’ 27th man during Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Mets and was charged with a run after failing to record an out in a brief appearance in the nightcap of the doubleheader. That’s an infinity ERA, folks. He should be back up in the majors when the Cardinals require additional bullpen help.
