Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports that Bobby Dalbec has signed a one-year contract to join the Yomiuri Giants in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
The 30-year-old slugger will earn more than $1 million guaranteed on the deal. Dalbec slashed an underwhelming .222/.290/.422 with seven homers and 47 RBI in 338 plate appearances across six big league seasons, so taking the guaranteed money overseas with a chance to showcase what he can do in a full-time role makes a great deal of sense.

Royals signed INF Bobby Dalbec to a minor league contract.
Dalbec opted out of a minor league deal with the Brewers after hitting .266/.356/.498 with 12 homers in 61 games for Triple-A Nashville. He also saw some time in the majors with the White Sox early this season, going 4-for-18. The 30-year-old is a career .222/.290/.422 hitter in 338 major league games, though most of his success came back in 2020 and ’21.

Bobby Dalbec went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBI and three runs scored for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Dalbec now has six home runs with a .287 average and .862 OPS at Triple-A. At this point, we’ve seen Dalbec consistently produce at Triple-A only to strike out far too much at the big league level, but perhaps he gets another shot in Milwaukee.

Brewers signed INF Bobby Dalbec to a minor league contract.
Dalbec finds a new home after going 4-for-18 during a seven-game stint earlier this season with the White Sox. The 29-year-old all-or-nothing slugger will head to Triple-A Nashville as extra depth.

Bobby Dalbec has elected free agency.
No surprise here. Dalbec went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend and will head back to the open market. The 29-year-old all-or-nothing slugger went 4-for-18 during a seven-game stint with the White Sox.

White Sox designated INF Bobby Dalbec for assignment.
Dalbec has been jettisoned from Chicago’s active roster amid a flurry of moves prior to Sunday’s game against the Astros. The 29-year-old all-or-nothing free-swinger went 4-for-18 with one RBI in seven games with the White Sox.

White Sox recalled INF Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Charlotte.
With Chase Meidroth (thumb) being placed on the IL, Dalbec will have two weeks to try and earn more playing time with the White Sox. The 29-year-old is hitting .326/.354/.696 in 12 games at Triple-A with four home runs and 13 RBI, but he also has a 33 percent strikeout rate. Considering he has a 37 percent career MLB strikeout rate, we would not assume he’s any different of a hitter than he has been in his previous failed call ups.

White Sox reassigned INFS Bobby Dalbec, Tristan Gray and Chase Meidroth and RHPs James Karinchak and Steven Wilson to minor league camp.
A few “high profile” names here. Dalbec, Wilson and Karinchak have all had various levels of success in the majors, but none were good enough to make the White Sox out of camp. No comment. Several of these players likely have opt-outs, so none are guaranteed to report to Triple-A Charlotte when the season begins.

White Sox signed INF Bobby Dalbec to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reports that Dalbec gets $1.25M if he’s in the majors with the White Sox with another $500K possible in incentives and the ability to opt out in June and July. Dalbec has spent his entire career with the Red Sox since being drafted in the fourth round out of Arizona in 2016, and while there were some flashes that suggest he could be a regular, it hasn’t come consistently. He’ll battle for a bench spot with the White Sox in 2025.

Bobby Dalbec has elected free agency.
The 29-year-old will get an opportunity to hit the open market for the first time. Dalbec appeared in 37 games for the Red Sox during the 2024 campaign, slashing just .133/.217/.193 with a homer, eight RBI and three stolen bases in 93 plate appearances. He’ll most likely have to settle for a minor league deal with a spring training invitation elsewhere, but stranger things have happened.
