Brent Headrick (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
The 27-year-old southpaw has been shelved since August 16 due to a left forearm contusion. He should only need a couple of minor league tune-ups before he’s cleared to return to the Yankees’ bullpen. Headrick holds a 3.13 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 30/7 K/BB ratio over 23 innings in 17 appearances with the Yankees this season.

Yankees placed LHP Brent Headrick on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 16, with a left forearm contusion.
No word yet on how much time Headrick will miss. The 27-year-old southpaw has pitched to a strong 3.13 ERA across 23 innings (17 appearances) this season in his Yankees debut.

Yankees recalled LHP Brent Headrick from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Headrick has been summoned to bolster New York’s overworked relief mix ahead of Sunday’s game against the Phillies. The 27-year-old southpaw has posted a pedestrian 4.73 ERA across 13 1/3 innings (11 appearances) this season at the highest level.

Yankees optioned LHP Brent Headrick to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 27-year-old southpaw did a decent job in 11 appearances with the big league club, registering a 4.73 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 16/3 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings of work. He should get another opportunity with the Yankees before the summer is through. Scott Effross was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move on Thursday.

Yankees recalled LHP Brent Headrick from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
With Fernando Cruz (shoulder) headed to the injured list, the Yankees needed a fresh arm in the bullpen. Headrick should be up with the team for two weeks until Cruz comes back.

Yankees signed RHP Adam Ottavino to a Major League contract and selected him to the active roster.
The Yankees had signed Ottavino last week when Devin Williams went on the Paternity List, and then released Ottavino when Williams returned. Now Ottavino is back and will fill a spot in the Yankees bullpen with LHP Brent Headrick optioned to Triple-A.

Yankees optioned LHP Brent Headrick to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees plan to re-sign Adam Ottavino to a major league deal on Monday, and they needed to free up a roster spot to do so, which unfortunately means that Headrick finds himself on the outside looking in at the moment. The 27-year-old hurler had been terrific in four appearances with the Yankees, firing 5 1/3 scoreless innings with a 0.56 WHIP and a 9/2 K/BB ratio. It shouldn’t take him long to earn another opportunity with the Yankees.

Brent Headrick gave up three runs while getting three outs Monday in his start against the Jays.
Headrick was supposed to go at least two today, but he was pulled from both the first and second innings. He impressed with his velocity up about two mph at the beginning of the spring, but the uptick has since vanished. With a 7.27 spring ERA, he seems like a long shot to make the Yankees.

Brent Headrick struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief Wednesday against the Cardinals.
It was surprising to see the Twins give up on Headrick when they needed to open a spot on the 40-man this month, and the early returns for the Yankees have been great; his velocity is up a bit, and he’s thus far fanned seven in three innings. Since he has an option year left and several alternatives don’t, it’s going to be tough for him to make the Yankees. Still, he could turn out to be very useful in middle relief.

Yankees claimed LHP Brent Headrick off waivers from the Twins.
Headrick joins the Yankees to add depth to the pitching staff and has a pair of options remaining. It seems unlikely he’ll be a big factor for the New York bullpen in 2025.
