Phillies released RHP Brett de Geus.
There was no interest on waivers earlier this month when de Geus was jettisoned from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster. He’ll test the free agent waters after making just one relief appearances for the Phillies this season.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #74
Phillies sent RHP Brett de Geus outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
No team was willing to roll the dice on de Geus on waivers after being removed from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster at the trade deadline. He’ll remain stationed at Triple-A Lehigh Valley as emergency organizational depth.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #74
Phillies designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment.
The move clears room on the roster for Harrison Bader. The Phillies claimed de Geus off waivers from the Marlins at the beginning of the year, and the 27-year-old hasn’t made an appearance in the majors. He’ll hit the waiver wire, and likely report back to Triple-A if/when he goes unclaimed.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #62
Phillies claimed RHP Brett de Geus off waivers from the Marlins.
He’ll report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. De Geus failed to make the Marlins after giving up six runs in 2 2/3 innings this spring. He has a 7.48 ERA in 61 1/3 major league innings dating back to 2021.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment.
de Geus was sent to the minors in spring training, but figured to be used as a depth arm at some point during the season. Instead, the 27-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment to make room for Xzavion Curry just a few days into the season. His time with the Miami organization could be short as he was just claimed off waivers from the Pirates in February.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins optioned RHP Brett de Geus and RHP Valente Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville and reassigned RHP Josh Ekness to minor league campt.
Both Bellozo and de Geus are likely to be up-and-down arms for the Marlins, and that role won’t have any fantasy relevance. Ekness has a chance to make his MLB debut at some point this summer.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins claimed RHP Brett de Geus off of waivers from the Pirates.
While the 27-year-old has had a hard time pinning down a secure roster spot over the years, he continues to be a hot commodity on waivers and will change teams once again after he was designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier in the week. As long as he pitches well in Grapefruit League play, there’s a good chance that he cracks the Marlins’ Opening Day bullpen.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #62
Pirates designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment.
The 27-year-old right-hander was just acquired from the Blue Jays in mid-January, but he gets bumped from the Pirates’ 40-man roster to make room for Andrew Heaney. Once again, there’s a decent chance that de Geus generates interest on waivers and could soon be on the move once again.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #31
Pirates acquired RHP Brett de Geus from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.
The Pirates get de Geus after he was waived by the Blue Jays on Friday. He struggled in his time in the majors in 2024 with three different clubs, but he’ll give the Pirates some depth heading into 2025.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #31
Blue Jays designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment.
The Jays had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster after signing Jeff Hoffman on Friday and de Geus drew the short straw this time around. The 27-year-old hurler struggled to a 7.15 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 7/4 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings between the Blue Jays, Marlins and Mariners during the 2024 season. He could pique another team’s interest on waivers.
