Angels optioned RHP Brett Kerry to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Kerry did a terrific job in his three appearances out of the Angels’ bullpen, posting a 3.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 12/2 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings. He threw 98 pitches while logging 5 2/3 innings against the Marlins on Saturday though and wasn’t going to be available for several days, prompting the Halos to replace him with a fresh arm. He should get another chance with the Angels in relatively short order.

Brett Kerry allowed one run while working four innings in relief against the Brewers on Saturday.

Kerry came in to pitch after Brett Suter threw two scoreless innings as the opener for the Halos. The 27-year-old pitched well — better than expected considering he had a 7.72 ERA in Salt Lake prior to the promotion — and allowed just a solo homer to Jake Bauers while in the game. This was supposed to be Jose Soriano’s start, and it’s very feasible Kerry will pitch in a similar role to this over the weekend.

Angels recalled RHP Brett Kerry from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Kerry, who had a 7.72 ERA while working mostly as a starter at Salt Lake, is up for his second big-league stint. He allowed two runs in four innings for the Angels in one relief appearance in June.

Angels optioned RHP Brett Kerry to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Kerry returns to the minors after allowing two runs over four innings in relief against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday in his big-league debut. The 27-year-old’s departure allows Los Angeles to bring up a fresh arm ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the division-rival Athletics.

Brett Kerry allowed two runs over four innings of relief work Wednesday against the D-backs in his MLB debut.

Kerry did a nice job saving the Angels pen in his third day as a major leaguer, but that probably just means he’ll be sent back to Triple-A now. He was in line to potentially fill in for Grayson Rodriguez and start Friday, but that’s not realistic after 59 pitches today.

Angels selected the contract of RHP Brett Kerry from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Kerry earns his first promotion to the big leagues after posting a 5.92 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 59/21 K/BB ratio across 62 1/3 innings across 14 appearances (11 starts) at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll presumably operate in a swingman-type role out of the Angels’ bullpen. There’s a chance he moves into the rotation with Grayson Rodriguez (back) on the injured list.
