Hunter Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Pirates.
Goodman receives a break after handling the catching duties in three of Colorado’s last four games. He spent the other contest at DH. It’ll be a full night off for the slugging backstop, who is up to 10 round-trippers already through just 38 games this season. It’ll be Brett Sullivan behind the dish in his place on Wednesday evening.

Hunter Goodman is not in Thursday’s starting lineup for the Rockies against the Padres.
Goodman is off to a .264/.340/.540 start with six homers in his first 24 games. Brett Sullivan will draw a day-game-after-a-night-game start at catcher against RHP Matt Waldron.

Brett Sullivan delivered a run-scoring double in the 11th inning on Thursday as the Rockies dropped a heartbreaker to the Padres in San Diego.
Sullivan — who entered the game once Hunter Goodman was removed with a lacerated finger — nearly wound up playing the role of hero. He led off the 11th inning by lining a double into the right field corner off of Jeremiah Estrada, giving the Rockies a lead, though they wouldn’t be able to hang onto it. He finished the day 1-for-2 and is now hitting .333/.375/.400 with two RBI on the season.

Hunter Goodman is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s affair against the Astros.
This will be the first off-day of the season for Goodman. The 26-year-old will get a break and Brett Sullivan will catch and hit eighth in Goodman’s absence.

Rockies selected the contract of C Brett Sullivan from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Sullivan winds up making Colorado’s season-opening mix as a non-roster invitee this spring. The 32-year-old will serve as a backup to starting catcher Hunter Goodman.

Brett Sullivan had a nice day at the dish in Thursday’s victory over the Giants, going 3-for-4 with a double, stolen base and a pair of runs scored.
The 32-year-old backstop singled in the third inning, but the Rockies were unable to cash him in. He then smacked a one-out double in the fifth and raced around to score on an RBI knock by Cole Carrigg. Sullivan also singled in the sixth, swiped second base and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Nic Kent. If he keeps this up, he could beat out Braxton Fulford to be Hunter Goodman’s understudy to open the season.

Rockies signed C Brett Sullivan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Sullivan offers plenty of defensive versatility as a part-time option at catcher with the ability to also play multiple infield positions. The 31-year-old got into three games for the Pirates this past season but has accumulated 112 plate appearances over 43 games in the big leagues since 2023. He’s merely a depth addition at this stage of his career.

Pirates re-signed C Brett Sullivan to a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old elected free agency on Friday after he was sent outright to Triple-A Indianapolis, but it sounds like the two sides were eventually able to reach an agreement. The 31-year-old backstop will continue to function as extra catching depth for the Bucs.

Brett Sullivan elected free agency after being outrighted by the Pirates.
Sullivan was DFA’d on Monday after going 1-for-6 in two games with the Pirates.

Pirates sent C Brett Sullivan outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Sullivan will hang around with Pittsburgh as emergency organizational catching depth after going unclaimed on waivers following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 31-year-old backstop got into three games for the Pirates while both Endy Rodríguez and Joey Bart were sidelined due to injury.
