Mariners placed DH Rob Refsnyder on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 27, with right knee inflammation.

Refsnyder is dealing with a knee issue. It’ll be newly acquired Buddy Kennedy taking his spot on Seattle’s roster prior to Monday’s contest against the division-rival Angels.

Mariners acquired INF Buddy Kennedy from the Giants for cash considerations.

The Mariners had an open spot on the 40-man, so there’s no need for a move there. He’s out of options, so he’ll presumably be added to the active roster, most likely in Weston Wilson’s place. Kennedy will be a bit rusty. Before being DFA’d today, he spent four weeks on the Giants’ active roster. He went 0-for-7 during the first 10 days of that stint and then never got into another game after June 10. The 27-year-old journeyman hit .321/.424/.543 in 48 games for Triple-A Sacramento prior to his callup.

Giants designated INF Buddy Kennedy for assignment.

With Heliot Ramos (quad) returning from the injured list on Sunday, someone needed to get the boot from the Giants’ bench to make room and Kennedy wound up being the odd man out. He went hitless in seven at-bats during his time with the Giants. There’s a decent chance he slides through waivers unclaimed and continues to function as extra depth for the Giants at the Triple-A level.

Giants selected the contract of INF Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Sacramento.

Kennedy receives his first opportunity with the Giants after signing a minor league contract last offseason. The 27-year-old infielder has appeared in 67 games between five different teams since 2022. He’s struggled to gain any traction at the highest level despite posting some huge numbers at the Triple-A level.

Giants signed INF Buddy Kennedy to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Kennedy appeared in the big leagues with three different ballclubs in 2025, slashing .069/.156/.103 in 32 plate appearances between the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Phillies. He also got a World Series ring out of his efforts. He’ll now function as extra infield depth for the Giants.

Blue Jays signed INF Buddy Kennedy to a minor league contract.

Kennedy returns to Toronto for the second time this season after being removed from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster and electing free agency last week. The 26-year-old infielder has gone 2-for-29 with one RBI in 13 games for three different clubs this season. He’ll function as emergency infield depth for the Blue Jays down the home stretch.

Buddy Kennedy has elected free agency.

Rather than accepting the outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City, the 26-year-old infielder will explore the open market instead. Kennedy has gone just 2-for-29 (.069) with one RBI and an 8/2 K/BB ratio over 32 plate appearances with the Phillies, Blue Jays and Dodgers this season.

Dodgers sent INF Buddy Kennedy outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The 26-year-old passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment on Monday and it sounds like he’ll accept the outright assignment to Triple-A. Kennedy went just 1-for-17 with one RBI in his limited action with the Dodgers.

Dodgers designated INF Buddy Kennedy for assignment.

Kennedy went 1-for-17 with one RBI in seven games with the Dodgers after being claimed off waivers from the Phillies back in mid-August. He loses his roster spot with utility specialist Enrique Hernández returning from the injured list.

Enrique Hernández went 2-for-3 with a double as Triple-A Oklahoma City’s DH in his first rehab game Wednesday.

Hernández, on the IL with left elbow inflammation, could rejoin the Dodgers next week. Buddy Kennedy will probably lose his spot once that happens.
