Cardinals outfield prospect C.J. McElroy went 2-for-4 for Low-A Peoria on Wednesday night, and is now hitting .315/.361/.369 for the season.
McElroy has seven stolen bases for the season, and is looking more and more the part of center fielder with a leadoff approach. He needs to develop more power, but the former third-round pick could turn into another shrewd move by the St. Louis front office.

Cardinals prospect outfielder C.J. McElroy went 3-for-4 with a hit by pitch on Sunday for Low-A Peoria, raising his season line to .316/.333/.368.
He is the son of journeyman middle-reliever Chuck, who put up a 3.90 ERA (112 ERA+) for nine teams over 13 seasons. McElroy has elite speed, but there are questions as to whether he will develop sufficient power to allow his speed to be useful. If he continues to hit above .300, he could be a decent center fielder/4th outfielder.
