Vieaux elected free agency in early October after being removed from the Pirates’ 40-man roster the previous month. The 29-year-old southpaw struggled in eight relief appearances for the Pirates last season, but recorded a strong 3.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 47/15 K/BB ratio across 50 innings (35 appearances, one start) for Triple-A Indianapolis. He has a chance to make it to the Angels’ bullpen at some point this season.

The 28-year-old southpaw will peddle his wares on the open market this winter. Vieaux finally broke through and made his big league debut this season, but he registered a disappointing 10.38 ERA and 2.31 WHIP over 8 2/3 innings with the Pirates -- that did come with an impressive 15/5 K/BB ratio though.

Vieaux was waived earlier this week to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. He cleared waivers and will head back to Triple-A to continue serving as organizational depth.

Vieaux, 28, had allowed 11 runs -- 10 earned -- in just 8 2/3 major league innings with Pittsburgh.

Vieaux will join the Pirates bullpen with Yohan Ramirez optioned to Triple-A. The 28-year-old left-hander has given up 11 runs over five innings of work in the majors this season.

Vieaux cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will stick around as left-handed relief depth.

Vieaux has been removed from the Pirates’ 40-man roster to make room for outfielder Jake Marisnick to be activated from the 60-day injured list. The 28-year-old lefty made five relief appearances earlier this season for the Pirates in the majors.

Vieaux had surrendered nine runs -- eight earned -- on 11 hits and four walks through his first five major league innings. Yerry De Los Santos is off the COVID-19 IL to fill the vacant bullpen spot on Wednesday.

Vieaux was drafted back in 2016 and will be making his major league debut at 28, assuming he gets into a game. He holds a 2.28 ERA and 23/11 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings at Indy this season.
